We won't know unless and until Bowles does retire. Even if Bowles has agreed to retire after a year, that would have to be kept under wraps or he would be a lame duck. If Bowles does retire after a successful season it would be a safe bet that it was in the works all along. It's a safe bet that the circle of Licht, Bowles and Coen are all on the same page already about the future to some extent.I don’t think Bowles is thinking beyond 2025 as a head coach. I absolutely think he and Coen are being considered for their next positions with the organization.
Could be retirement, could be that if his team meets/exceeds what will no doubt be extremely high expectations - but unless this runs off the track badly - Bowles is not getting fired.
Of course there is always the pressure to win, nothing is guaranteed if you lose. If it's not a successful season then a retirement would basically be a firing. You can call it whatever you want. Bowles has a pretty short leash because Coen is waiting in the wings.
