The twin towers of Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson will provide plenty of scoring chances for the Bucs but there was almost a very different receiver in the lineup had the 2010 draft gone differently.According to Alex Marvez, who spoke with former Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik, the Buccaneers tried trading up in the 2010 NFL draft to select Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas but were unsuccessful in trying to do so.A @MarkdominikESPN tidbit: @TBBuccaneers tried to use their two 2nd-round picks in ’09 to move up & draft @DemaryiusT. Couldn’t pull it off— Alex Marvez (@alexmarvez) August 30, 2014It would have been interesting had the Bucs acquired Thomas in that draft day trade — or at least the pick to take him — but let’s not forget how pedestrian these recent Bucs teams have been.Even had Thomas been on roster, the chances Josh Freeman panned out aren’t very high, meaning he’d have just sat around wasting away talent until now. He’d be nice to hace as a three-headed monster with Evans and Jackson but drafting Thomas in 2010 wouldn’t have been a quick fix for anything.
