Michael Clayton, Derrick Ward, Quincy Black, Davin Joseph and Eric Wright. All bad players who were paid way way way more than what they deserved. Some of the morons here assumed that Eric Wright was a good CB purely because we spent good amount of money on him. Dominik is capable of trapping the gullible in such a way. Horrible GM.
4-12, 10-6, 4-12, 7-9, 4-12He has huge ownership for the above. This horse is dead though.

Absolutely. It is the offseason after all. ;D
Mark was a horrible GM. He wasn't Mat Millen horrible, but he was not "average". He couldn't negotiate, he gave big $$ to craptastic players, and drafted a slew of busts. He refused to draft OL and then wondered why the OL was a consistent weakness on the team. He completely butchered the handling of his coordinators in his first year. The same team that had been a perennial playoff contender when he inherited it became a joke his first season. You can't blame all that on the coaches. The only strong draft of his tenure came after he had lost a lot of his leverage with Schiano and Davis coming into the building. This is the same guy that gave a big contract to Michael freaking Clayton at least 3 years after the rest of the world knew he was an irrevocable bust for Pete's sake.
Posters here claim that the man was "horrible" which I think is unjust. When your head coaches are Raheem and Schiano, it's kinda hard NOT to fail. All GMs have questionable signings, draft picks, etc., but Dominik's are nowhere near bad enough to consider him "horrible." Calling him "horrible" is a bit short-sighted.Just my opinion........and opinions here warrant the creation of a new thread.
Probably what you should do to clear this up once and for all is make a list of Dominik's free agent signings and draft picks and rate each of them. Average that out and see what score he gets. Dominik was real likable. I liked him. I wanted him to succeed. But that probably got in the way of honest evaluation of his work. If you go back and make a list and rate the players you will be shocked at the results.
Those guys were no brainers.Give me the GM who can find the lesser known role players who fit the scheme , give depth , and round out a complete team. That's how you make perennial playoff contender. Not by overpaying guys everyone knows are good. A chimp could do that.
no they werent. if they were no brainers, other GMs, who are considered "better" would have taken them.
Of the 5 player's listed in the post DJ was responding to, one was the 5th pick in the draft, one was made one of the highest paid players at his position, and another was made the highest paid player at his position by a substantial margain (in addition to trading a 1st and a 3rd for the right to make him the highest paid player). So really, better GMs only had a legitimate shot at 2 of those. I don't think he rated as average, but the bar being set there is telling imo.
...and missed on countless 2nd and 3rd round picks. Never could improve the teams depth in the later rounds and with cheap free agents either. You cant build a team like that , as the results showed. He sucked.
Sensing some exaggeration - unless of course counting past 4 is a challenge...
Yo, calling Marky Mark Dominick an average GM is completely inaccurate. You are being too kind to deem him that dawg.During his 5 years as GM, only 4 teams compiled worse overall records than the Bucs (Buffalo, Jacksonville, Cleveland, and St. Louis). Dom's Bucs had 28 wins in 5 seasons man. That is terrible, not average.Bucs never made the playoffs under Dom's watch and only had 1 winning season (with a weak schedule, I might add). Did terrible contracts for Derrick Ward, Michael Clayton, Quincy Black, Eric Wright, among others. Practically got named GM of the Year 5 straight seasons by the Marky Mark Report (err Pewter Report) and his praises are sung because he landed players like Revis, Gholdson and Nicks, yet the reason we had to overpay those players is cuz we couldn't draft worth a damn.Hardly any depth and offensive line, which Dom touted as one of our strengths, turned into one of our biggest weaknesses in 2013. Oh yeah, and he swung and whiffed on our franchise QB and never brought in legitimate competition for him.And as somebody else mentioned the whole debacle with the coordinators in his first year on the job. Yo man, Dom was far from average. You can see that by all the teams, or lack thereof, that are lining up to bring him into their front offices right now. But hey, at least he is a good person and good father according to PR. That makes me feel betta paying those season ticket invoices and when I watch what has mostly been a crappy product for half a decade. Damn man, this stuff get me fired all up.
Dominik was an Average GM with an above average haircut
I'm pretty sure at least 80% of this board would hit that...........the beaut in the bikini.

I'd hate to meet the guy who's perception was changed that much over a 6 pack. It takes most people double or triple that to get there or hard liquor. :p

It doesn't have to really change your perception , it just needs to give you an excuse , lol.
