Organic subtraction, that is...We just secured at least an extra #4 round pick next year...likely higher. I really hope that D Buc or an edge player is signed(only offsetting the Kwon or Hump FA contract), but I'm also just as stoked to draft mostly D and build that route.
Yes we lost Kwon, but honestly Beckwith was a superior player when healthy in 2017 and Kwon never really backed up his emotions with stellar play. I for one won't miss WRs catching slants all day due to his lack of coverage skills/spacial awareness. Good riddance, especially at 13 mill a year.
Hump stings a little...but he's more a product of playing slot in Dirk's offense than a stud, game breaking athlete. He was and never will be a match-up nightmare. I'm excited to see what a bigger, faster Hump aka Justin Watson can do next year or a similar player in BoBo Wilson can do with expanded opportunities.
This team (yes, with all of it's warts) doesn't lack talent...even today...what we lacked was a unified locker room and excellence in the headsets. I believe we have that now.
We lost a surefire locker room cancer in MeSean and 2 roll players @ WR and ILB...Boo Hoo.
I feel with a beating heart, bad ass coaching staff and the roster as it stands today...we put up an 8-8 record. Let FA and the draft play out favorably and maybe even better.
I'm also stoked about our forward salary cap (see link below - click calculator) where if we need to TNT and go youthful FA crazy we'll have the $$ as early as next year with very little dead money creating headaches. JL and the cap wiz have really set us up nicely there.

Just my take. How do the rest of you feel as we're likely not getting any shiny toys this free agent period?
