Hargreaves was in the same cornerback draft class as Florida State's Jalen Ramsey. Though Ramsey was considered by most to be the top guy, the general thought was that Hargreaves, though a different style of corner, wasn't far behind in terms of how well he would preform in the NFL.
The gap has turned out to be much wider than most thought on draft night -- even for Hargreaves' harshest critics.
As Ramsey has elevated his game to an All-Pro level, Hargreaves has not. He was the most targeted player in the NFL his rookie season, and gave up the most yards because of it. His second year in the league wasn't much better, and to start his third season he got hurt and placed on IR after Week 1. He's playing at Tampa's No. 1 corner this season, and is better than he's ever been, but that still isn't a player, especially a corner, you draft No. 11 overall.
Their faith in him to be a CB1 has haunted them making more drastic moves to address the position over the years.
