Smith was 1/1. Amazing player. But, if Egbuka is on instead of Godwin his production could be similar, if he plays up to the hype.

fingers crossed.

Agreed, and the hype has annoyed me, I know what he did in college, the NFL is playing better talent  than Oregon & Texas and Notre Dame, almost every Sunday - but I’ve become more intrigued as guys like Evans and Baker are saying it interviews. Veteran leaders don’t gas players up.

Having said that, still need to see him do this in regular season games. Looks like the real deal in practice and preseason, so far.

What?!?!!?! Oregon would win the super bowl

Yeah, I’ve been waiting on him getting to prove it. To his credit Emeka has stayed quiet while others have spoken about what they’ve seen.

He’s super polished and will explode in the NFL, but the pressure has to be incredible. But I’m trying to keep my powder dry until he does it for real.

This kid is so solid. Just happy he’s going to be kept off the field until showtime.

Still remember watching a game with my brother last season and remarking that I would love him to be a Buc as he reminded me so much, then, of Chris Godwin. I think that is his floor.

The positive discussions by his teammates, OC and HC, don’t bother me. Its the media hype picking up on those stories that has annoyed me. Would have preferred they held off til the season starts, but that’s me.

He handles himself on and off the field like a veteran, but he’s still a rookie. While he’s played 13 to 14 games a season, for the last 4 seasons, which extends the rookie wall a little more, the wall is still a thing.

Great stories from his coach and former NFL WR, Brian Hartline. He didn’t stay for 4 years to boost his career stats. He wanted to help the offense, Hartline said he also wanted to know how the pro’s approached each play, and wanted hard coaching to play to that standard.

Yeah, I have loved this Buckeye for a long time. I was still shocked that we picked him. Can’t wait to get this thing started.

I was still shocked that we picked him.

So were most. In hindsight a great move. The Bucs knew what they were doing

Ha! There’s no worry, just pure anticipation. I may have shared that he and I had a common Saturday interest for the last few years.

I think you’ve had an occasion to notice him a few times, yourself, and speak from experience.

@theknees OROTY will be a tight race, I was so high on Tet McMillan before the draft, it pisses me off that he went to Carolina, he reminds me of Mike Evans a bit and a bit of Calvin Johnson too, hes huge, fast for his size and has circus hands, the guy can catch anything. A WR prospect like Tet doesnt come around often.

Egbuka could do it tho, hes got the talent if he gets the targets.

I also think the RB for the Chargers has a chance too, Hampton will be getting alot of touches, Ward could win it too, but the Titans have an awful roster, I doubt his rookie year is that impressive. Im not high on Genty at this moment, he hasnt impressed so far in the preseason.

@chadrico - his ability at the pro level is superior to Tet and Golden. So my guess is he will have to beat out Jeanty and the RB from the Chargers, maybe the kid in NE as well.  In any case, unless he gets injured, with McMillan sidelined, he’ll finish N of 1000 yards and 6-10 TDs.  All things being equal, today, August 23rd, 2025, Egbuka is the first WR taken.  It’s been a minute since I have heard this type of hype regarding a Buc’s offensive player.

@theknees  Yea 1000 and 6+ TDs is possible for sure, I just think thats also possible for Tet. It will be such a fun season.

LMAO, You know who has zero chance at OROTY? Shedur Sanders! My god was he awful today holy sh*t!

@chadrico - Yeah, I can’t recall a QB having a more polarizing pre-season.  He was an underrated God just two weeks ago.  Now he’s a no good bum who probably caused the Cuyahoga River fire back in ‘69.  lol. Really nuts.

@theknees yep, he looked like a totally different QB from 2 weeks ago. It was like he had never read a defense before. On multiple occasions he held the ball for 7+ seconds and every play there was a WR open. On a couple occasions there was a WR running a shallow cross, wide open and he didnt see it.

It was shocking, I thought he looked decent in week 1 but this game today, he was awful, like shouldn't make the roster bad.

Yea been saying it since the day he was drafted, floor is 1k receiver.

He has all the intangibles you want, smart, instinctive, tough, physical. He's able to pickup the playbook play all 3 spots  from what baker has said and the other intangibles you can see it when a guy wants all the smoke.

Not sure I follow the last part, but it could be jet lag.

I get the anticipation aspect. We all want to see him in real action.

Remember how hyped we were about JMac finally starting to come around last season?

Ebuka is THAT much better of a player, and won't need the ramp up period that Jalen did.
