Hah! I missed it, NOW it makes since!@bucsbits - exactly my point point. 👍
I think you mean that he has reasons to stay, not that he's a good barber ("shear talent") lol
Man, I hope he's reading our posts!!!

Ha! Well played!
Outside of the GOAT and Baker, how many of those QB’s got us to the a second playoff game?
Jesus Christ, what the hell does that have to do with anything regarding this topic?
Maybe I’m being overly-sensitive (Baker-Boi and all),
Ya' think?
but we’ve proven that we can’t just stick anyone behind center.
Wrong.
Evans has hit 1K receiving yards with McCown, Glennon, Fitz, Winston, Brady, and now Baker.
Mike's going to get his no matter who's under center.
Do you actually think this team will be so loaded, any FA/QB will win more than he loses, and will easily take us to the playoffs?Outside of the GOAT and Baker, how many of those QB’s got us to the a second playoff game?

if so, I’m saying Mike Evans won’t sign here to get his 1k, he’ll go get his 1k, and maybe a Super Bowl, with CJ Stroud.
I believe the Bucs think Baker & Mike showed them enough that they think one gets them the other - and I agree with them.
What’s nutz is, you think you can walk from Baker Mayfield and keep Mike Evans…just so he can get 1k in a Bucs uniform?
No way. He’ll go for the money, the yards, and a deep run, in Houston.

Again, I have no idea why you're bringing this up, as I was discussing the fact/topic that Evans has been a focal point in every offense he's played in and logged 1K campaigns with every QB he's played with.
On a side note, you mentioned that Cousins had a torn ACL multiple times this morning.
I've checked everywhere today and haven't seen anything that states that.
Can you provide a link or can this be lumped in with your "now even even national sports media think Mayfield would be the preferred FA QB?" credibility?
At this juncture, if Evans leaves (for Houston or KC would be my bets if he did), then just blow the whole damn thing up.
Focus on signing AWJ and extending Wirfs.
Hard reset, ditch the bad contracts, bleed out the dead cap, and rebuild.
Here we go again. Sounds like last year all over again. That may be what you want or what some observers think is best during the offseason when nobody is watching actual games. But it's not what is going to happen as long as Licht is around. He's already started his "Have your cake and eat it too" plan of building up the roster with younger players while still trying to win now. There's no reason to think he's going to divert from that even if he can't get all the players back. You are using the word "rebuild" which is code for "tank". Licht is never going to tank. If they don't get back Mayfield and Evans they'll still try to get some other free agents. He's not going to embark on a long term strip it down to the bone plan. That just isn't Licht's style. If the Bucs suck this year it won't be on purpose. At this juncture, if Evans leaves (for Houston or KC would be my bets if he did), then just blow the whole damn thing up.

Cool story.

As usual, you’re wrong.
With this franchises long history, it’s hard to convince long-term fans that the the way of operating we had prior to the GOAT era, will be what we return to.
Some of us have begun to see that the GOAT brought more than just spectacular play on the field - Brady’s legacy may actually be that the Bucs culture has changed. That is what this is about - some have begun to believe that we have the basis to leverage that culture shift to keep winning by building around pieces that can compete.
Baker Mayfiekd is not the GOAT, few in history have ever been, but he doesn’t need to be if the rest of the team can be improved around him. Our Bucs may just have found that piece that makes the offense competent. If Bowles can keep improving the defense to become special - the offense won’t be a hindrance anymore - and both will be better at the SAME time.
We’ll see if it is successful, it certainly seems like this team isn’t just following its historical, predictable cycle we had before the GOAT. The Bucs surprised the NFL last season - and they look like they’re trying to build off of that.
Some have begun to believe, but because of our disappointing history, it will take some time to convince more of our disillusioned fan base, but it sure looks like the Bucs are trying become winners.
Not everyone is there yet.

Basically, continue the process from begun last year.
I think everyone that matter is back, but if we lost Evans and then presumably also Mayfield, do you think the Bucs probably find a journeyman-ish veteran QB and probably make a move to try to draft someone like Penix?

Essentially, yeah. Just more aggressive and accelerated.

Licht would probably sign a journeyman-ish vet under the guise that we're still "competing" for the division.
My hope is that he would draft a Penix or possibly Nix if they were there (and bring in a cheap vet).
As a worst-case scenario, maybe, but not sure about drafting one of the two you menationed (Pennix/Nix). You only do that if we don’t think we already have a QB under development (Trask).
If that worst-case scenario happens - signing a care-taker QB/drafting a shiny new QB - it is a return to mediocrity. And it would take a long time. They’re both older than most prospects (both 23), Trask is 25 with a couple of years of NFL ‘experience’ - unless you think Pennix or Nix are upgrades over Trask, I don’t see the Bucs drafting a QB until the later rounds, if at all.

Cool. So what would you do?
