I understand how difficult it can be to transition to a new position. Each position has its own mentality to it. Change from OT=>OG, OG=>C, RB=>WR and so on can be difficult as heck. It's already too deep into the season to tryout guys at different positions but why not make a point in the offseason to see how guys work elsewhere. Regardless of the team makes the playoffs, I think most can agree more work needs to be done. Sometimes I feel it could be as simple as a position change within the team.
One that came to mind immediately was why not try Sims exclusively at WR. He was always touted as a good receiving back in college. It's not a knock on him as a RB he's just might be better suited as a WR.
Another two that I see many posters mentioning is along the OL. Marpet to Center and Smith to OG or RT. I can see why you don't change their position after one season is because of that. It's only been a season. Who knows with a year under the belt how well they could do. After two seasons of film you can get an idea of how they'll fare against certain competition.
I mean really evaluate each individual player skill set and put them in the best position to succeed. I can admit that I was one of those people that believed that the team should've given Banks a look at S. Who knows what could've happen. But he's no longer on the team so enough of that. Years ago I even at one point thought, why not try McCoy at end. So much is said about his quick get off. He might have done more for the team at end.
So what are some position switches you wish happened, or at least they try for in the offseason?
