Not the best looking FA class. Here are some names Im thinking about.
Brent Grimes - Im hoping we sign him for another year. Bucs should offer him good money, and I dont see many other teams offering him a lot despite him playing at a high level. Going into next season at 35 years old.. I dont think many teams would outbid the Bucs for him and it seems he and Miko will go where the money is if he doesnt retire.
Kyle Fuller - Probably the best FA corner right now. Hes earning himself a big contract. were in the unfortunate position to be in a bidding war for any good corner that hits the open market. If Grimes isnt re-signed then we should look to bring in a good young corner entering his prime.
Prince Amukamara - playing his best season of his career for the Bears. The Bears secondary between Fuller and Amukamara has been one of the lone brightspots for the team. They also have some other young promising corners. Its unlikely that the Bears re-sign both Fuller and Amukamara so one of these guys is a realstic option to be available on the open market. Amukamara has had an injury history, but he represents a big upgrade with good age and experience for us.
Malcon Butler - Another guy going to get a hefty contract, but hes the right age and experience. If he hits the open market Bucs need to be active in pursuing him.
Trumaine Johnson - Could hit the open market this time. Hes underperformed compared to his massive contract, but would be a upgrade for us whos a perfect mix of age and experience. Would still probably command a hefty contract but not nearly as big as his previous contract. Despite underperforming in many areas, hes statistically one of the best CBs in the league in the redzone.
Morris Claiborne - Taking him a while but hes starting to become a very solid CB. Reason why he could be available and cheap is because his often injured. So a CB who may come cheap and perform well above the cost, but could also be watching the game from the sidelines. Bucs may want to bring him in and roll the dice. If we lose Grimes I think we have to be looking at guys like this and cross fingers that it works out.
