Field Gulls are the best team site/blog out there. Highly recommend you give them a follow on Twitter as they put out high level analysis (applicable across the NFL but with a focus on the Seahawks). They've had some great analysts get hired out of there (and still there).
Here's what they said via their Twitter on McCoy:

Gerald is coming from one of the worst organizations in professional sports so trying to sell him on the Seahawks is maybe easier than it is for some veterans and Gerald seemed like a high character person on Hard Knocks

The Gerald McCoy news is potentially a big deal for the Seahawks. As @mattyfbrown noted on @FieldGulls two weeks ago, McCoy could be a 3-tech option for the team. Might be a competitive market to sign him, though.
@FieldGulls
Gerald McCoy is 30. The likelihood is he could have 1 or 2 more Pro Bowl seasons left, maybe 4-5 total years. Best is often behind a DT, even of his caliber, at 30. But all a team really needs right now is 1-2 anyway.
@FieldGulls
Can't emphasize enough that Ndamukong Suh played next to the BEST PLAYER IN THE NFL and played as well as he did a year earlier with the Dolphins, which feels like a lowkey downswing season for him. Suh's fall could be rapid and soon.
@FieldGulls
The Seahawks have a ton of cap space and have won a playoff game in six of the last eight years, but "spots to win" indeed include the Browns, Chargers, Jaguars, and Cowboys, a combined six wins over that same period of time
@AdamSchefter
Former Buccaneers' DT Gerald McCoy wants to sign with a playoff contender, and of course make money. But he wants to win. Spots that would make sense include the Browns, the Patriots, the Chargers, the Jaguars, and the Cowboys amongst others.

If you don't know how to judge organizational success and the importance of ownership as it trickles down to the field, I don't know what else to tell ya other than you should start
