Would be shocked if we made it but even if we do this isn't a good team. Winning a bad division is not a good excuse to keep the same hc when you know you need to improve there. Hc is so important to just leave it because you are happy you won a real bad division is settling for more of the same. This is not good enough..for some it is but not for me.

At this point I'm not sure I want us to win anything.

If it was a guarantee that missing the playoffs would get him fired I'd be all for it but I'm not sure it is...

Licht better get his head out of his ass... He fucked up letting Coen go. Grizz is not an NFL coach.

And, Licht deserves criticism for this egregious error.

At the end of the day, we'll still end up winning a dog shit division, backdoor into the playoffs, get bounced in the WC, and have to muster up excitement to watch YET ANOTHER season of ineptitude of Todd Bowles.

Good times.

Licht also failed to address LB both in the draft, FA, and via trade.

He has no depth on either side of the line.

Overall I like Licht but going with Bowles/Grizz was such a bad move.

And I'm not so sure we win the division. I don't think we beat Miami

there is no way we beat Miami.  They are on a heater and will put up 30 points.  Baker can't throw for over 200 yards.  We ain't matching that.

the question becomes can we beat the Falcons in prime time?  We lose that game and we are toast.  If we win, i think we likely win the division.

This team is going either 8-9 or 9-8.  At 9-8, assuming a split with Carolina and beat Falcons, we win the division.

at 8-9, only way we get in is if, Carolina loses also to the Saints and Seahawks in addition to our split.

I'd be ok making the playoffs as long as we fire Bowles. Doesn't make sense but I think winning culture is important. Can help get a good coach and good players come in.

have an awful feeling that missing the playoffs might not mean the end of Bowles

so hard for me to root against Bucs

this team isn’t winning a playoff game if they get there and that should be enough now to get rid of the coaching staff one would hope

Both Licht and Bowles signed multi year extensions which indicates that if the organization thinks this team is still in phase 1 of team building they see a future with both in phase 2.  Problem is if you have a losing season how does Licht justify keeping Bowles?  This is going to be an interesting finish to the season for sure.

Richard williamson, Leeman Bennett, and Ray Perkins could have won this division the last 4 years if they coached the bucs...terrible division, many teriible qbs and coaches, terrible rosters, and many timely key injuries in reference to our division opponents is why the bucs won division, NOT because of the bucs coaching!!!!

Bucs would have to go 2-2 in the next 4 including a split with the panthers and somehow beating falcons on Thursday night. They have no shot to beat the dolphins

Panthers would need to also lose to Seattle which is possible

i dont think I’m confident in Bucs winning this division

but would think at 9-8 and getting steam rolled in first round should equal his Bowles exit this year

not sure how extension plays into all of this

I was all for keeping Coen over Bowles last year.  After the 5-1 start, I was content to let things play out given a first time play caller, and matching the best start in franchise history.  That said I was cautiously concerned with how we were getting wins in close games.  Yes close wins are good and build confidence amongst the team, but are not sustainable.  I was hoping, but not expecting the team to not have a mid-season skid this year, but again here we are, having lost 4 of the last 6 games and have failed to play any kind of complimentary football over the past several weeks.  Also at this point there is no reason that the ST coach shouldn't have lost his job, and the assistant ST coach be called up( can't get any worse really).  I mentioned a few weeks ago in a prior thread that I don't think Bowles makes it to next year if this skid leads to missing the playoffs despite the extension.  I also think if Bowles limps this team to the playoffs and gets his clock cleaned during WC weekend that he could well be shown the door ala Gruden ( missed playoffs after hot start after signing an extension ) and Dungy ( lost to Eagles 3 times in playoffs in consecutive years ).  If Bowles IS somehow retained next year, my hope is that the Glazers will demand that he step down as DC and hire an external candidate (perhaps Mike Tomlin if he's let go) ...If he refuses he's fired, and if he does and the defense and team perform poorly next year, then he's shown the exit.  I don't know if the Glazer siblings have the same fire that papa Glazer had, but they have to sense that the fanbase is getting fed up given the rollercoaster seasons of the past 3 years.  This team this year feels much like the Mike Singletary led 49ers that squeaked into the playoffs the year that whole division was down...Division titles are great, and nice to hang your hat on, but they lose their luster when the team can't consistently get past WC weekend.

We are what we are... an inconsistent team. But yea we do need new blood, We need a bit of Arians magic and roster management. He would always pair a couple of vets in the positions groups to keep the young guys accountable, and then add some "alpha" personalities like Suh, JPP, Brady they may come off a bit rough around the edges in the lockerroom but they mean well by keeping us accountable.

Arians always had a good pulse on what the team needed personality wise, and what buttons to push either "calling a guy out" but it comes off ok cause hes gonna say it to your face as guy and you respect that. He also called the shots I miss the all out blitz, the mid field shots all well timed up things of when to go for the haymaker

Like we wanna have the team run the team, but you need the right mix of guys can't have too many young guys can't have too many old guys.

"we're only gonna be good as you wanna be"

This team takes on the identity of Bowles. The team also take on the identity of what Licht rewards or tolerates.

Licht rewarded mediocrity. So we are mediocre.

Bowles lacks fire, this team has no fire.

Players that underperformed continue to play meaningful snaps.

Coaches that continue to underperform continue to have a job.

Licht could have sent a message and fired our special teams coach after yet another abysmal performance. HE STILL CAN!

Let's also not forget the hubris of Licht trolling the saints after we beat them. We've shit the bed since then...

Howie goes and finds players for the eagles... Even when they're a mess they go down swinging.

Licht stood still and decided that Dennis and David could lead the defense.

Which tells me Licht, like Bowles, is a function of a shit division.

Licht shouldn't be fired as he's done plenty of good... But he has to realize he's part of the problem.

Bowles over Coen... Smdh

The Bucs have been up/down since Bowles took over so I wouldn't say this season is some new development. But it is true that Arians understood as a HC you must micro manage at time the team so it functions properly.  And, sometimes you step back and delegate to give room for your coaches to coach and grow.

Bowles seems too hands off with the team's function from what I am seeing and I think he needs to take a more hands on approach because all three phases of offense, defense and special teams are way off.

Bowles needs to investigate what is going on with each unit because right now I can not say one unit is shining over another which is something a HC must prevent from happening as the season progresses.

It seems the cumulative neglect of the team has reached a critical mass and there needs to be more care and attention to detail right now.  Arians had accountability board and vets to enforce accountability.  What does Bowles have?

Bowles needs to channel some of his inner Arians and realize HE is the HC and not a DC with HC side duties.

The bigger issue is the lack of improvement year over year. The defense has been under his tutelage since 2019. And only once has the pass defense finished in the top 10. 30th, 21st, 21st, 9th, 29th, 29th and currently sitting at 29th. And to compound matters is the run defense has regressed. If he was the defensive coordinator only. He would have been fired years ago. The team has had five different offensive play callers during his span as d coordinator and head coach. But the true catalyst for the mediocrity of the team is steeped in his inability to get the must out of his defensive players and scheme.

We are 29th with an elite safety, a good safety, and three competent corners.

Although I will say a lot of damage is done by attacking David and Dennis

What phase is Mike Evans in?  Vita Vea?  Chris Godwin?  Tristan Wirfs?  Hassan Reddick, Baker Mayfield, Rachaad White, Jamel Dean, Lavonte David. These are cornerstones and they're not in Phase 1 or 2.  This team had high expectations of being a contender now - this year.  To rewrite this thing as being in the early phases of a rebuild is not accurate.
