When are we as fans going to hold Todd Bowels accountable as Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator for the dismal performance of the defense? For the past several seasons the run defense has basically fell off a cliff. The pass defense has yet to really improve and now the defense as a whole this season has been a sive. And, Baker doesn't escape blame. With the amount of issues with forcing throws with the penchant for throwing interceptions.
I think most fans have wanted him fired in his tenure at head coach
2022 - Brady’s only losing season in 23 years. Most wanted him gone with lefty
2023 - at 4-7, many of us were calling for an in season firing. Baker, Canales and company getting it together and saving his ass
2024 - a 4-2 start, the best they’ve looked under this tenure. Playing Godwin unnecessarily in garage time, out for year. A retarded fake punt call? A bottom 5 defense. The team may finish with 8 wins but won’t make playoffs
unfortunately I just don’t see them firing him. They will blame this year to injuries and dead cap space (paying for Brady years)
just don’t expect him to get fired despite him not being head coach material
Bowles will not be fired unless they totally tank the rest of the season. This was a huge loss, but that still doesn't change that they are pointing toward 2025.
You are probably right. Bowles will be the HC next season. The Bucs always have a chance to win the NFCS. Saints in salary cap hell. Carolina is just bad. Bucs just have to sweep Atlanta next year.Bowles will not be fired unless they totally tank the rest of the season. If you want to tank the season, you keep Todd.
@catherder - what will 2025 bring? A defense without Lavante David… so we’ll need two MLBs. A defensive line without a pass rushing edge threat. One pretty good corner in Zion. 7 or 8 wins will get us a 13-18 pick in the first round. We’re not getting an edge at that spot that can provide anything their rookie year. And then on top of that… Cohen will be a head coach somewhere else. Without him we’re 2 and 6 right now. Our future is ugly.
Cohen is already a top 3 offensive play caller for the Bucs in my mind. Up there with Gruden and Arians. Can’t let him walk under any circumstances. I’d fire Bowles in a heartbeat to keep cohen in Tampa.

Very possible and, in fact, the thing that most fans discount. The Bucs are a team whose PRIMARY objective is NOT winning, it is recovering from a push to win a Super Bowl and he is a willing participant. a "team player," so to speak. This is why he was NEVER getting fired after 2022 or 2023 (especially when he brought in Canales and Mayfield)
All that said, he's late in his contract and they are not going. to give him another 5 or make him a lame duck, so this could be his last season

Not to defend the job Bowles is doing but....
We don't want to change the offense. Coen is doing a great job by all accounts.
We don't want to change the defense. If you put Bowles out on the street, there will be teams lining up around the block to hire him as DC.
Of course injuries are a big factor, but it's the players. The great Jason Licht is responsible for that. Has Bowles been cutting loose the players Licht is getting for him? Is Bowles misusing the players he's been given? Whether it's the injuries or cap situation or Licht not finding the players, the Bucs problems are not a result of the coaching. They are a result of the personnel on the field.
I mean the decision today to go for a fake punt on our own 35 yard line was why we lost today
would say that’s coaching
the decision to play Godwin during garbage time and risk him to injury - again would call that coaching
the defense stinking because they lank talent - yes let’s blame the dead cap space and playing with house money aspect
the defense being bottom 5 is a reflection of Bowles. Still has Vea, Winfield, David as his leaders.
I'm not saying Bowles hasn't made bad decisions, but IMO the reason the Bucs lost is to the Falcons is because we didn't have the talent on the field on defense to match up to their talent on offense. We had good players like Winfield and Vea sure, but too many weak spots.I mean the decision today to go for a fake punt on our own 35 yard line was why we lost today

Licht has whiffed on pass rushers, including Diaby. He gets hustle and cleanup sacks but he almost never wins clean.

Of all the people the criticize it's the 3rd round pick Diaby?
Not Braswell or JTS or Hall?

We know those guys don’t get home. But I’m tired of announcers saying how good Diaby is every week. He wouldn’t play much on good defenses.
