The Bucs need to build up the trenches on both sides of the ball, need another CB, S, RB, TE.
I think the Bucs cut Smith and move Wirfs to LT (or at least leave that as an option). So OT becomes a huge need.
They also need to fix the pass rush.
My top 5 targets in round one (hoping at least one falls to them at 19)....
OT Paris Johnson
OT Pete Skoronski
OT Broderick Jones
Edge Nolan Smith (my dream pick at 19)
Edge Lukas Van Ness
I would be happy with any of these guys at 19. With the expected run on QBS (4 in the top 10 projected), I would think one of these guys will fall the the Bucs.
I'm skeptical on Jones, I think those UGA T prospects in general are awesome physical specimen but technique still flawed especially in pass pro. Would not be mad if we took him just don't think he's a sure thing like Johnson/Skoronski is. Pete will probably play G in the league anyway.
Here's my first round targets in
1) Bryan Breese DT Clemson
This is the Jeffery Simmons situation all over again. Except this stud didn't tear his ACL but battled through injuries and was still terrorizing teams not 100%. I know coaches are high on Logan Hall potential but I think he is years away from being a good player. The jump he'd have to make from his rookie year to year 2 would be astronomical which IMO can't be counted on. DT's take time to develop, while I have Bresse is ready to man a spot next to Vea right now and hold his own. Knowing Bowles though he's going to put his eggs in the Logan Hall basket and pass up on BB but if I'm GM he'd be someone I want to fortify the trenches.
2) Brian Branch DB ALA
3) Devon Witherspoon CB Illinois
4) Cam Smith CB South Carolina
5) Nolan Smith LB/DE Georgia
6) Joey Porter CB Penn State
7) Keelo Ringo CB Georgia

He is a stud. I'm surprised he going as low as he is a lot of mocks.
Insane. It doesn't make sense to me that he is falling out the top 15 in most mock drafts I've seen. Here's my first round targets in

I'd be good with Breese but we just took Logan Hall. That's a lot of draft capital for 1 position when we already have a top 5 DT in Vea that was seemingly misused last year.
Nolan Smith I'd love but he won't fall that far...
The OT prospects are intriguing too...
And as I've said I'd love if Gonzalez fell to us at CB. I know I'm a Duck homer but I view him as a blue chip prospect that will be all-pro.

The advantage to Bresee (and Logan Hall, for that matter) is that they both can play DT or DE in the 3-4. They are both 6'5"+ and under 300 lbs. They are both closer to William Gholston than Vita Vea in size, and Gholston could play either position.
Building up the DL is never a bad idea. If a guy like Bresee falls in your lap at 19, you happily take him.
That's a good point and I'm all for it but I also saw some mocks with him falling well past us... I don't get it.
I'm always in favor of trench players, but we def need to grab a top 5 corner in this draft. There's a bunch of good ones that I like.
I'd also be open to Njaba but that feels like a luxury pick.
I honestly think we could find a nice CB prospect in the second round. With Davis being the #1, we just need to find a quality #2 guy that compliments him. A guy that can actually make interceptions though. I don't see Dean coming back due to $$$$$$$$$That's a good point and I'm all for it but I also saw some mocks with him falling well past us... If you want to get a solid tackle who can start in year one you have to get one in the first round or you're taking a real risk that you will totally strike out. At CB I think you are right we can wait until the 2nd round. Licht has had a lot of success getting DBs on Day 2.
If the Bucs are setting themselves up for drafting a QB next year, they should be drafting the tackle this year. Get your O-line in order first and then draft your franchise QB, rather than the other way around.
If we move Wirfs to LT I think our job is a lot easier to find a quality RT prospect. Abe Lucas(3rd rounder) ended up having a better year rookie season than their first round pick LT Charles Cross. I agree though getting the OL in tact should happen - how that happens dont really care just draft good players. If you want to get a solid tackle who can start in year one you have to get one in the first round or you're taking a real risk that you will totally strike out. We're going to have to wash our hands with Ryan Jensen in order to keep (Wirfs and AWJ)
I'm not sure why Hendon Hooker being 25 is a big deal. QBs can play until they are 35. What is the chances he'd still be on the same team ten years later anyway? If you get ten years out of a QB or any player that's a success. If he's there in the 2nd round I'd take him.
I have a feeling the brass is thinking of kicking the tires on Goedeke at RT with Wirfs moving over to LT.
Someone will reach on Hooker.
I've always been a fan of BPA and I'd stick with that this year despite some clear needs
I'm fine with them kicking the tires on that idea, but they have to have a Plan B or a Plan 1b. Goedeke already washed out of one position, although he was put into a tough spot. Is Goedeke ready to start at RT? That's a big question mark.I have a feeling the brass is thinking of kicking the tires on Goedeke at RT with Wirfs moving over to LT.
O line is a must early.
build the trenches!
no TE or rb early please.
