To me, its fairly obvious if we don't get a top 3 QB in the first, we need to trade back to recoup a 3rd and then use that 3rd on a QB like Garoppolo or Mettenburger.
This team needs OL.As a matter of fact, our entire draft should be OL.First Round? OL.Second Round? OL.Third Round? OLFourth Round? OLFifth Round? OLSix Round? Meh, Punter.7th Round? All OL.

We don't have a 3rd or 6th rounder so i guess we get no punter.
I don't see how us taking a QB would be a surprise. Especially with the way Carr seems to slowly start rising.
They HAVE to do something about the DE position, its a glaring need. Whether its addressed in the draft, or free agency, it has to be upgraded.
We all know that, considering the type of players that are available in free agency I think we are more likely to improve the DE position through free agency. But if we were to trade up to five or something to get Clowney that wouldn't surprise me either.

With what ammo ? We are already missing 2 draft picks as it is.
There's always ammo ..next year's 1st round pick , etc.Don't think this regime is going to mortgage like that , though.

I love Clowney, but its not 2 first round picks kinda love.
i dont get the whole qb competition thing. sure, lovie said it. but its coachspeak. we will make moves at QB...probably either draft a starter or acquire a backup. what does competition do to improve glennon? how does taking away his reps help his development? i can understand a qb like freeman needing competition, but all we hear about glennon is how motivated and driven and bookwormish he already is. so what does competition do for him?

Puts the better QB on the field. Glennon isn't at stage where he needs to be pushed. He's at the stage where he's ok but maybe not good enough and could be beat out.DRAFT JIMMY G!
QB is absolutely a need
Completely agree.
not sure i really buy that. too many variables. coaches are gonna put a guy out there they think they can win with. i dont think they need a competition to figure that out. drafting another qb in the 2nd or 3rd is the worst idea i can think of. that gives us 2 qbs that need as many reps as possible. not enough practice time to spread it out evenly or fairly imo.
It all depends on who is available. Won't be shocked with a quarterback.

The cream always rises to the top. If they draft a QB early then they don't believe that Glennon is the guy. Glennon can go ahead and beat out that guy if he's better than what the coaches saw on tape.
If we draft a guy at the top of the 1st there will be no competition.
Let's see, a new staff taking over a 4-12 team that had the worst passing attack in the league and one of the worst overall offenses of the last 5 seasons.Taking a QB is really going to shock anyone but the most delusional Glennon fans who think he's already elite?I'm fairly sure that even the majority of his supporters can see why there is a fairly large chance we try & grab a QB, they might not like it but it's a realistic option.
Very well stated. Glennon needs competition. Whether that comes from a Free Agent QB like McCown, Flynn or Henne. Or via Trade- Kirk Cousins or Ryan Mallet. Or via the draft- Carr, Garoppolo, Murray or Mettenberger. The Bucs made the mistake of anointing Freeman the franchise QB before he had earned that designation. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake again.
That would be completely retarded. If you want competition for Glennon, you draft it. You don't have him "compete" against guys you already know will never be the answer. Because if he doesn't beat them, you don't have a winner, you just have two losers and have accomplished nothing. You draft a guy and if Glennon beats him you still have a guy with potential to groom on the roster, and if he beats GLennon then you can feel good that you have found your answer -- because Glennon isn't a pushover.Any which way, I'm pretty sure we are drafting a QB this year, the question is which round. We will either do it in the first and Make him the guy with Glennon as the backup, or we will grab one of the guys who slides later on to have a year to grade Glennon and groom a guy to replace him if he stumbles. Sort of a Smith/Kap situation. I think that is more likely, especially because that is where the real QB value is in this draft IMO.
