Five things Bucs can do to help Jameis WinstonPat Yasinskas, ESPN Staff Writer video linkTAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made headlines Monday when they announced they’ll use virtual-reality technology to help rookie quarterback Jameis Winston. That’s a good start because the potential franchise quarterback needs all the help he can get. But the Bucs shouldn’t stop there. They need to do everything in their power to make Winston comfortable.Let’s take a look at five other things the Bucs can do to help Winston.Assign a baby sitter. All teams have someone on staff with a title like director of player programs. The person in that role is a combination of a social worker and big brother. But that person has 52 other players to deal with. Winston needs individual attention. His time in college showed he wasn’t very mature. The Bucs would be wise to assign one person to keep an eye on Winston.Run the ball. The best way to keep the pressure off Winston is to run the ball successfully. The Bucs didn’t do that last year. But they have some talent at running back with Doug Martin and Charles Sims. They need consistent production from that duo.Block. Tampa Bay’s quarterbacks were sacked 52 times last season. The Bucs can’t afford anything similar this year or else Winston will be in big trouble. The offensive line is being overhauled and rookies Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet could be in the starting lineup, but they can’t afford to play like rookies.Use their biggest strength. Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson form one of the best receiver tandems in the league. The Bucs need to let Winston get them the ball as much as possible.Play good defense. The defense can be Winston’s best friend. He has a reputation for being a gunslinger who takes too many chances. If the defense, which ranked No. 25 in the league last year, can improve, the Bucs won’t be trailing all the time and Winston won’t have to take chances.
