I am on record as saying they will make the change but the SECOND question will be the finances, again.

I think they will be better, but that has been a question each of the last couple years

Glazers about to get some massive tax cuts so... I think they can afford paying an elite OC

lol I meant the cap and dead money

pretty sure Glazers  are doing okay

Does the cap make a difference with coaches salaries? Is there something I'm missing?

No I meant that the talent on the team is impacted by cap/dead money. I don’t know where that stands next year.

I don’t think a team goes to far with JJ Russell, T Thomas etc. NEED good health and better depth and talent to go with new coaches

No, but the coaches salary is a drop in the bucket compared to the players salaries.  Bowles probably makes somewhere between what Lavonte David makes $8.5 mil) and what Anthony Nelson makes ($5 mil).  And it doesn't count against the cap.  So even if Bowles contract for five years was fully guaranteed, which I doubt, they would owe him $20 mil or so. That's hardly a concern for a franchise that is worth $5.4 Billion.  More of a concern would be improving the team value with a winning tradition and maybe another Superbowl.  If they can parlay that into a deluxe stadium upgrade that would really help the franchise value.

Head coach contracts are fully guaranteed for their duration (except for cause, I guess).  But, I dont think the Bucs factor the current cost of his contract into things.  They have let coaches go with 2 years left.

I only meant that an element of any coach's success is the players.  I get that some posters argue that Bowles play calling and scheme is THE problem, but pretty hard for that to be true when we are just now pulling a S off the Lions practice squad AFTER having already released him earlier this year lol

Now he can line up next to JJ Russell and former special teamer T Thomas, but he should NOT expect to suit up next to our FORMER starting CB, Funderberk, because he doesnt even dress anymore, or former starting CB Hayes, because he's been sent back to ST only!

Right so... Like I said. They are getting their tax break from their buddy so they can afford to pay Bowles to sit on his ass at home.

I mostly agree with all of what you said.....  Like you said I don't think Bowles contract has anything to do with it... Gruden was extended before his last year, just to be fired at season end unless I'm remembering that wrong? So if they want to move on they will.

As for the defense I can see both sides, as both scheme/play calling, and players are equally important for a units success.  As far as Bowles is concerned I absolutely think scheme and play calling are a big part of the problem, but I also feel that stubbornness as it pertains to "his guys", plus a lack of evolving the defense, and also lack of coaching as it pertains to fundamentals falls squarely on he and his defensive staff.  Yes players absolutely play into the equation, but our ever worsening missed tackle percentage and players constantly out of position speaks for itself.  I'm all for bringing in players that may not have spent TC with us if they're better than the ones that did...If he doesn't want to teach them his scheme this late in the game then perhaps that's even more glaring because he's fundamentally a teacher.  If the scheme is that complex then perhaps they should simplify it on the backend so that guys can play fast and loose.  I think coach likes having the built in excuse of lack of communication being the culprit when his defense shits the bed.  Tampa currently has just under 8 mil in cap space so they should absolutely be kicking the tires on some players from other rosters especially as it pertains to depth pieces....I'd much rather see what's out there that can go on the practice squad over bringing back another one of "his guys" in Neal that we saw more than enough of last year.
