Worth the rad, but if you dont want to this is a former agent writing about NFL contracts and player's use of those contracts to make $$$

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-baker-mayfield-buccaneers-teammate-among-nfls-best-and-worst-signings-of-2023-season/

While not the focus (ie the article is not about GM performance) it argues that mayfield was the BEST ACQUISITION and that Mayfield's contract was the BIGGEST STEAL of the year and that Mayfield was the player who best took advantage of the structure of his contract (BEST USE) to propel himself to a coming big $ contract.

The worst use of a contract is Devin White, but by extension that means that the decision to NOT EXTEND HIM was correct.

Also for all the Mayfield 2024 contract handicappers, this is the former agent's take, note the parts in bold:

"The Buccaneers should be willing to pay Mayfield in the Geno Smith neighborhood at a minimum. The Seahawks signed Smith to a three-year, $75 million contract, averaging $25 million per year with $40 million in guarantees, where $27.5 million was fully guaranteed at signing, in March. The deal is worth as much as $105 million through salary escalators for a maximum average of $35 million per year.

Mayfield may have higher salary expectations than a Smith-type deal. Targeting more than Daniel Jones got from the New York Giants last March wouldn't be too surprising.

Mayfield's agent wouldn't be doing a solid job if not arguing that we are talking about a 2024 $$ and going forward contract.  Smith's contract was 2022?  Not sure, but everything grows.

same former agent's take on Goff deal

Goff could soon be laughing all the way to the bank. The good outing against the Rams ensures that a new Goff deal should surpass Matthew Stafford's 2022 extension. Stafford signed a four-year, $160 million extension averaging $40 million per year, which currently puts him in a tie with quarterbacks Daniel Jones (Giants) and Dak Prescott (Cowboys) as the league's 10th-highest-paid player. The deal has $135 million of guarantees, of which $63 million was fully guaranteed at signing.

Outrageous what the cost of food for a family of 9 is PER week, this inflation has been just abominable.  I think the problem may be too big to fix now, especially since no one seems to be willing to extend the olive branch to the opposition because of petty pride.  Our leaders should be ashamed of not even willing to give tru ear and reflection to viewpoints that contradict their own...but wait theres more, then chase that with a helping of Crow, Apology (MEA Culpa) and then discard their old ingrained beliefs IF the reflections leads them to take such a leap against everything they had Staked theIr prIde to before...PrIde....Pride... cUmes before the fall.  Master that one, gUd lUck!!!!

Here's a fact

ONLY politicians can create Inflation

Meanwhile your tax dollars are paying illegal aliens $2500 month plus an EBT card... for votes

Just take a look around and see how close we are to one party rule with the backing of the media, the justice department, FBI and CIA with people like Zuckerberg and Gates virtually no different than Russian Oligarchs

4 more years of this senile thieving f-king fool and that whore of a VP and America will be a 3rd world country

well, in line with the basic concept of inflation it make sense  that most 2024 contracts wouldn't be based on a 2022 contract price, but rather where the similar player fit into the 2024 structure

I see what you did, there. I suspected you would reply, but your reply was unexpected. A tip o' the hat to you, sir.
