2014 NFL draft: Former GM doesn’t believe any of the QBs are NFL-readyBy Josh Sanchez SI.comMarch 28 2014Blake Bortles has the tools, but he will need time to develop into a legit NFL starter. (Mark LoMoglio/Icon SMI) The 2014 NFL draft features three quarterbacks that are expected to be top-10 selections in May: Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater, Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles of UCF. All three of the prospects have completed their pro day workouts, leaving only private meetings and individual team evaluations to influence where each player will land. Former NFL general manager and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian stopped by Sirius XM NFL radio on Thursday after Manziel’s pro day to give his thoughts on the upcoming draft class, and he didn’t sound like a guy who was overly impressed or convinced any of the top signal-callers could be franchise-changing players.
Of course, this is just one man’s opinion. All that it takes to be a high draft pick is to have one team fall in love with your skillset, and all three of the top quarterbacks will likely intrigue the quarterback-needy teams at the top of the draft order.
