Who do you think teams fear more of a regression from, Cousins, or Mayfield?
My bet is the aging QB recovering from an achilles surgery has more concern.
$25 to $33M or his ass could go sign with another team where he keeps the seat warm for a 1st round rookie - so it's not a hard sell by the front office unless they fell googlie eyes over him given his playoff success.
I think your max is too high, but I agree with your post.

I think you would lose that bet.

Depends.
How well did he recover from his first ACL…err…Achilles surgery?
@biggs3535 …do you know?
Given most of the other teams that may be interested in Mayfield will have top picks, we really shouldn't overpay. Saw someone say Daniel Jones type money which would be borderline retarded behavior. $25 to $33M or his ass could go sign with another team where he keeps the seat warm for a 1st round rookie
Yup.

He must have recovered pretty well, because he’s outperformed Baker Mayfield in just about every category. And I understand that Baker Mayfield is the #1 FA QB this season.

Yup.
Which is why it would be pretty smart to let Mayfield test the market and match.

only thing that scares me with that approach is the Mike Evans factor.
he will have offers on day 1 and if our qb situation isn’t straightened out before then, it may give him the itch to play in Houston or Kansas city
and this isn’t to say Evans will pick team with best QB because then KC wins no matter what the next decade but it’s more of Evans joining a team as to what he perceives as having a proven guy and in Evans mind, he likely enjoyed his chemistry with baker and that will be enough for him to come back.
going from baker to say one of our backups or the 5th best QB in the draft, yes I’m saying that may deter him
Just watched pewterreport video, Scott Reynolds’ apparently thinks baker is the hotter ticket than Evans?
Actually thinks Evans signs first. Interesting
saw this too. Makes perfect sense: if you want to have the best chance to sign Mike, you need Baker under contract, first.Just watched pewterreport video, Scott Reynolds’ apparently thinks baker is the hotter ticket than Evans?

I can see why you want to engage Mike, it acknowledges the importance of both, to each other.

Aligns with Fowler's reporting that Mike wants to retire a Buccaneer.
They were clearly already working on it prior to this past season (albeit, failed discussions), which was before Baker.
It fits the Mike Evans we all know & love. Hope it’s true.Actually thinks Evans signs first. Interesting

You do have me there. Cousins has only outperformed Mayfield in games that have already been played. Cousins hasn't outplayed Mayfield in the future. He isn't that good.
He wasn’t as good as Baker in the heads up game they played against each other, and he is 7 years older, with 7 extra years of abuse.*Historically.My bet is the aging QB recovering from an achilles surgery has more concern.

Sorry, there’s no longer a comparison.
That’s the point.
