The team won, we had the better QB play.I didn't change anything. This is exactly what you said to @Biggs3535 in pages prior. No, you just went with changing the argument, because the original premise was: who would have been a better FA/QB for the Bucs. The point is Kirk Cousins > Baker Mayfield. That's all, I don't know why you can't comprehend that. So, you want Kirk over Baker, too? Noted. It's quite hilarious because every NFL media outlet, non-bias ones at that, was posted by @DonkeyHunter had an injured Cousins over Mayfield in free agency. My favorite part is when you assert that the injured Kirk Cousins is a better option than Baker Mayfield for the Buccaneers. My favorite is when he claims Mayfield outplayed Cousins, gets provided head to head numbers. Then brings up stuff that has nothing to do with that said H2H match-up.That is serious cult-like statements
What made it “cult-like” was the bold faced lies and outlandish fabrications to bolster his/her arguments.
- Claiming the National Media favored Baker over Cousins as the top FA QB
- Making up, not one, but two ACL injuries
- Making up a SECOND torn Achilles tear/injury
- Etc.
I mean, that’s just pathetic, even for these parts.
It is actually hilarious.
Then Buc fans talk about the losing team and pine for that QB…
Baker sealed the game on the final drive.
The point, lest it get burried under numerous posts: Kirk Cousins would not have made it 8 games behind this line, he was not an option last season, and after the way Baker handled the season, he is not an option, here, this season.
Lots of stats - lots of missing playoff runs & when his team did make it to the wildcard round - early exits.
It’s only an argument until we see what the league thinks of both of them.
Everything else is just pointless hypotheticals. Nobody in here is saying we want Kirk Cousins to be our QB for the future, just spewing the facts. You said Mayfield outplayed Cousins week 1, which was a lie. Then tried to bring up other things that have NOTHING to do with your lie. You get caught in a lie and just start deflecting and saying non-relevant things to your wrong statements.
Which is why Kirk Cousins was introduced INTO the conversation.
Regardless, I still assert that if Baker were to become a free agent, and if Kirk Cousins were to become a free agent, Baker would be the preferred
Because any team considering Kirk Cousins, would need an o-line that could protect him in a “clean pocket”.
Due to Kirk Cousins age (vs Baker’s), and Kirk’s recent severe injury/surgery/recovery, Baker would be the top target in FA.
Baker’s last drive in their heads-up play - stopped their comeback & sealed the Bucs victory.
Itvwas this game that drove the steak into the TraskForce/Baker-Hater cult.
Which almost morphed into the Kirk Cousins cult - after several pages of useless/pointless Kirk Cousins debate.
Cousins would be a fall-back/worst case scenario for the Bucs.
"He wasn’t as good as Baker in the heads up game they played against each other"
That's the lie we're talking about buddy. We aint talking about who is the best QB for the Bucs right now. You got caught trying to boost up/lie Baker Mayfield and how he played against him head to head week 1. Now your moving the goal posts to say Baker is better because he is young, not injured, survived behind the OL etc..
It’s not my fault Kirk still folds under intense pressure. Vikes got good pressure on Bake, too, but he didn’t fold. In fact, he capped the game sealing drive by lowering his shoulder and picking up the first down.
Bucs win.
Baker is better than Kirk.
Mayfield: 21/34, 173 yards, 5.09 YPA, 61.8 Comp %, 2 TD, 0 Int, and 94.4 QB rating
Cousins: 33/44, 344 yards, 7.82 YPA, 75.0 Comp %, 2 TD, 1 Int, and 102.8 QB rating
LOL Mayfield definitely outplayed Cousins according to you, huh?
Or, we’ll see who the Bucs want to sign
Yeah,
That's what I thought.
White Lyin' is a cowardly lyin'...
LOL Mayfield definitely outplayed Cousins according to you, huh?
Has to be a schtick at this point (or someone's sock account out of pure boredom).
If not...oof.
So, we’re negotiating for Kirk, then?LOL Mayfield definitely outplayed Cousins according to you, huh?

Maybe you missed the game the GM mentioned as being the point he knew who’s team this was?
Don’t think he consulted the national media to arrive at his conclusion, either.
No, the final argument will be who the Bucs sign as their starting QB, this season.
Has anybody, and I mean anybody, said that the Bucs are making Cousins their number 1 priority at QB? If so, please produce the quote.
I understand why you’re having to shift the argument there, as you’ve been thoroughly lit up after making multiple false and inaccurate posts. Creating strawmen really is all you have left.
I think you’re pretty good at shifting arguments. why-ever else are we still still dancing around Kirk Cousins? No, the final argument will be who the Bucs sign as their starting QB, this season.

It’s entirely possible that the Bucs never wanted Kirk Cousins. But if they happen to read the national media, they could have-at him in about a week, or so.
It’s pretty humorous that standard QB statistics like Yards, TD’s, Int, etc. are “Fantasy Football” stats to the Baker Bro’s
"some dude's list"
LICHT
"“You know, I’m not taking anybody or anything for granted at all because anything can happen,” Licht said with a smile in his voice. “But usually, and I’ve been our GM for 10 years but I’ve been in the business for 30, when a player really wants to be with a team, which we know, and when the team really wants a player, there’s a way that you can make it work. It usually happens. And we happen to have several of those situations going on."
Nice pr reporting Bucs and awj close to long term deal
🤞
Wrong. Cousins isn't a realistic option. He's the #1 QB on the market and the Vikings aren't letting him go for a reason. They have been in contract talks during the combine.I think you’re pretty good at shifting arguments. why-ever else are we still still dancing around Kirk Cousins? No, the final argument will be who the Bucs sign as their starting QB, this season.

I thought just yesterday the coach said they want him back but are still letting him go to free agency because he's entitled to "bet on himself?"
maybe not? I think they keep him but not sure he fully tests the market? more likely he comes back on his demands, I think

FWIW, if Mayfield plays for the Bucs for five years and the team results mirror the team results the Vikings have had with Cousins over the last five years, most of the board here will claim the Mayfield tenure to be a massive failure and something like a descent into mediocrity. lol
This is why the stats argument is kind of like the "winning percentage" argument before it. Its leaving out the context that (fairly or unfairly) the knock on Cousins has been whether he can win when it matters and that is BIG, especially when Mayfield (fairly or not) is sort of thought of as the OPPOSITE of that. (He's actually shown the opposite with the Bucs)
Going off of memory, Cousins stepped on to a loaded Vikes team and the team FLOPPED, right? They were stacked but had a bad season? If you go down to more recent performance (ie when there is no doubt it is HIS team) they have one season that mirrors the Bucs last season (divisional playoff loss) BUT in that game I think the Vikings offense disappears in the 4th quarter or maybe even the 2nd half. Contrast that with Mayfield in our divisional playoff loss.
The Vikings also had a great regular season in 2022 ONLY to lose in the first round of the playoffs WITH COUSINS unable to overcome a very small 4th qtr deficit, as I recall. They kind of fell flat again.
My point is call up all the stats one wants, but there are actual questions (fair or unfair) about Cousins ability to perform when it matters. What we've seen so far from Mayfield is the opposite of that and thats a pretty BIG part of being a QB.
I agree winning % leaves out a LOT of context. For an example, you are saying Cousins/Vikings disappeared in the 4th QTR or second half in comparison to Mayfield to exaggerate this "when it matters". The Vikes team FLOPPED because they gave up 31 points to Daniel Jones and that defense is putrid. In fact, Cousins was down 14 at the half and tied the game 24-24 in the beginning of the fourth quarter. You should try to actually get the facts straight about player performance before making assumptions to make a point. This "I think" as I "recall" ain't cutting it when the game logs are out there. He's the #1 QB on the market and the Vikings aren't letting him go for a reason.

And for the record, when it "mattered" Mayfield threw the game clinching interception with the season on the line.
Vikings were down 10 not 14 at halftime. I was typing too fast, not trying to lie to make Cousins look good or better. FWIW

not arguing that cousins isn’t a better regular season QB but on that day, even Jason Licht admits that was the game it was his team
Vikings favored by 6 I believe at home and Cousins and his team lost. Bucs were the better team and baker made some key plays to win that game and ultimately the team and fan base (sans ofcourse a few fans that he won’t win over lol)

It took some self-inflicted wounds from them for us to squeak by 3 pts. They had 3 turnovers(a strip sack from AWJ, a bad snap, and INT) and committed more penalties, while we played a much more clean game. We should of beat them by at least 2 possessions.
