Besides, you make the case that Mayfield isn’t worth $40m, while arguing FOR a 35 y/0 QB, that’s recovering from an ACL injury, who is set to make $45m?
That’s not at all concerning.
I’m all for a bargain.
Besides, you make the case that Mayfield isn’t worth $40m,
That's a very easy case to make.
is it though? lol. I joke about that because this is PR's analysis:
The guess here is that the absolute floor for Mayfield will be $30 million per year on a new deal – in Tampa Bay or elsewhere. And he could fetch as much as $38 million per year if he has multiple suitors driving his price up on the free agent market.
So, in their most recent view it is absolute floor of $30, could be $38. Very close to $40.
Not long ago most Mayfield critics were NOWHERE NEAR $30, now supposedly the "absolute floor."
Those same critic seemed to deny a market existed for him, but that doesnt seem to be the case NOW and that is the point of PR's $38 million.
In the eyes of Mayfield's critics on the Red Board he has gone from "worth zero" (bench him for Trask, actually) to $10 million to "$25 million but no more" to . . "oh okay, inflation" . . .
Who knows or cares, really? it will all work out.
is it though? lol. I joke about that because this is PR's analysis:
Oh, well, if PR says it then it must be so. I mean, they've never been wrong about impending contracts...
I think the report was based on actual market information. You know, franchise tag = $36m and all/value, thingy’s.is it though? lol. I joke about that because this is PR's analysis:
Oh, well, if PR says it then it must be so. I mean, they've never been wrong about impending contracts...
But, yes, clearly, they should have consulted you, (Pewter Report’s) Red Board denizens - and definitely should have included the TraskForce, first, before calculating Baker Mayfield’s relative value.
Talk about shaking etch-a-sketches…

I was quickly summarizing

but YES I assume SR has more football insight than most here
everyone is guessing, so everyone can be wrong . . including SR

Not so sure.
We now have it on good authority that Pittsburgh, Denver, New England, Atlanta and others are extremely smart and know something we don’t know.
Now, for some odd reason, nobody can seem to answer my question as to why (if that were actually the case) none of those astute GM’s didn’t make the move for Baker last season.
It’s weird.
My only guess is that we ultimately outbid those geniuses at 1yr/$4M.
Kudos to Licht for winning that intense bidding war.

no GM is as astute as Todd Bowles (the guy most responsible for bringing Mayfield here, reportedly)
Kidding aside, one would think Mayfield got peoples attention this year. I mean, he is the #2 Free Agent QB on many lists . . afterall
Is he negotiating last year's deal, or is he finding more interest after a great year from Baker Mayfield? One in which Baker replaced the GOAT, played behind a reconstructed o-line, with a limited running game, and a new OC...and took that team to the very end of the 2nd playoff game in the divisional round - when we were only supposd to win 6 games?everyone is guessing, so everyone can be wrong . . including SR

Seems like some of us keep forgetting the 'prove it' part that we all agree, Mayfield did. They're only negotiating what they both will ultimately agree on as to a new contract. I'd say you're right, kudo's to the LichtHouse.
Is he negotiating last year's deal, or is he finding more interest after a great year from Baker Mayfield?
Oh, so now those teams are smart AFTER this past season.
Got it.
Was wondering why you were ducking my question. Now I see why.
👍
I think the report...
You think? So you know as much as PR and anyone else on this board.

Oh, I know.
Just joshing around with one of the Baker Bois.
Smart-er. It has been reported that Baker Mayfield had options after, you know, his Rams debut. Is he negotiating last year's deal, or is he finding more interest after a great year from Baker Mayfield?

Not sure why TraskForce is so entrenched in their negative assessment of Baker Mayfield? However, there is no doubt to your consistency.
But I agree, it is weird.
