Why is Revis such a great fit for this defense if he would be just **CENSORED**ing around as a cloud corner? It is unbelievable to me that even after Coach Smith stated in his PC that they aren't going to be some "Cover 2" team, some people still keep saying Tampa 2 this and Tampa 2 that. **CENSORED**ing ridiculous. What we're going to see folks is a scheme that takes advantage of its talented players (lotta man) and is a top 5 defense next year.

Exactly. Lovie and co. will be molding a defense around the personnel he has. This isn't Greg Schiano here...no square pegs being jammed into round holes...He will put them in position to succeed. He and his staff will do right by them and their talents.

I've always been a big fan of Dekoda Watson.  Is it farfetched to considering flipping Foster and Watson around?  Is he a better fit for MLB in our scheme?  He does wear #56... and a previous #56 is back with us who was pretty good at MLB back in his day... :D

I read this great article on Seatte's defense and it's the scheme I'd like to see and I think Tampa has guys to fit it. 4-3 under front with Cover 3 on the back end but the corners play press at the line. Roll Barron down and have Goldson roaming the middle (or vice versa).

Ahhhh yes, the infamous "Seattle Triangle."  Pretty much the blueprint on how to contain the Aints.  I think this defense might be the next "Tampa 2" as far as a new system that hangs around for a few years.

IIRC, Banks played more zone and cover2 in college and was one of his "pros/positives" in his scouting report when he was entering the draft. Again, IIRC, some we're questioning drafting him because of that...I think Banks will be good in this defense. Not to mention, Lovie molds his defense around the personnel that he has so I wouldn't see it as an issue even if Banks isn't a fit...Now Foster is a different story. I could definitely see Lovie moving him to the SLB.

Press man. That's why Schiano drafted him. But he doesn't have ideal recovery speed and he doesn't do well against quick receivers.

Nope. I just checked a few of the scouting reports and I was right. Excels in zone/off coverage and has the ABILITY to play press man. Reacts well in zone and to the run. Good/physical tackler when playing/reacting to the run.I think he'll be fine.

I don't care what a scouting report says. I watch the games. He doesn't stay disciplined in zone coverage.

You need to have a lot of talent though and I think Tampa has it. That 4-3 Under front is the one Monte used. Tampa has the PERFECT front 7 personnel for that (if they can get a good DE). Then Barron and Goldson have the versatility to play either the deep middle or up near the line like Seattle has with Thomas/Chancellor. Then Revis would kill it playing press and hopefully Banks could be could at it as well. With all that being said though, I don't think Tampa will run this scheme a lot (if at all). Just think it would be a cool idea. I'm excited to see all the man Tampa will play though with the 4 guys hunting the QB. McCoy working a move through his gap, blowing by the guard into the QB. Double team him? Well watch out for Tampa's new beast DE off the edge (insert name here). Can't wait!!!!

Goldson isn't close to the level of Earl Thomas.

No shit and neither is Barron, but they are both more than serviceable to play either role. Goldson played single high a good amount in San Fran.

Exactly my thoughts. Holy hell, how many times does he need to say we might run Tampa two but we don't line up in it every play. We have corners in Revis and supposedly Banks that are made for a man cover scheme. It would be ridiculous not to use what we have, at least until Smith can draft the kinds of guys he wants. As far as Foster goes, he's improved in pass defense but still a liability. Hell almost all MLBs are. Kuechly who is good in coverage is still a liability. I've been saying we need to use David/Barron in the box on passing downs and keep Goldson and a true cover Safety back deep.

Well it's really hard to play Cover 3 when your free safety isn't very good in coverage and you don't have the best front 7 in football like Goldson had in San Fran.

I didn't expect to see an "exactly my thoughts" from you NY haha. I agree though that the Bucs should try to take a lot of advantage of Barron's in the box ability.

Goldson is good in coverage back there. He's just not Thomas and nobody is. Also, if (and I understand that it's a big if) the Bucs get one of those elite pass rushers, the Bucs will have a great front 7. They will be hunting QBs.

As a rookie? Oh, ok. Regardless...guess there's no way he could improve though, right? Oh.What about the coaching? It was bad right?  But that didn't affect Banks though, right? Oh.He'll be fine.

No, Goldson sucks in coverage as we saw over and over and over again this season. He's a nobody getting paid like he is somebody which is laughable. Yes, he can play cover 3 because he only has to cover a teeny tiny part of the field but asking him to do much with range isn't gonna work.

I disagree. He doesn't suck and sorry to tell you the Bucs will be playing a lot of man free this year so get ready.
