trading up for a Latu
where is he projected to go? how far up is the trade?
@bucsbits exactly why I don’t see a trade happening until draft day. So many unknowns this year and most likely a few trades happening before the Bucs pick. The Bucs could pull the trigger somewhere around #16 if they had a dance partner
We don’t have enough assets to trade up…and unless it’s a sensational player at a position of critical need, and unless we trade next year’s assets.
I don’t see a trade up happening.
There really is a lot of talent that will supposedly still be available in the 2nd round, and for positions we need.
And unless someone they want doesn’t fall to #26 - I wouldn’t be surprised if we traded down.
According to the trade value chart our 4th round pick would move us up about two picks and our 3rd round pick would move us up about five picks. That's the most I'd say the Bucs would be willing to give up. So I could see us moving up to 21 at the most. I've seen multiple mock drafts where Powers Johnson was at 20 or 21. So I could believe that Licht is prepared to trade up that far. But I don't think he'd trade up farther than that, because it would cost him a 2nd round pick. That's not going to happen. We don’t have enough assets to trade up…
Lol.
Yes we do.
Exactly.
Additionally, as I said previously: which of your children (personnel) do you love the least? If you don’t love them, no one else does either
And the cost to move up further, is next years draft assets.
That's why I don’t believe our Buc FO will move up, because the cost is too high.
If it happens, it will take personal we’re building around, or future draft picks. If that happens, many here will lose their minds about the level of future commitment they’d have to surrender.
But, if it happens, I’ll be fine with it. Because it will because they think the risk will be worth it.
Starting to see this morning that we just restructured Mikes contract to free up 17mil for this year. Anyone else seeing this? Seems weird to restructure a contract that’s a week old.
MLFootball is reporting it on Twitter. No clue who this cat is or if he’s legit.

Maybe for Wirfs, but you would think they just would structure Wirfs so 2024 would be a low hit. Maybe going after someone big?

It’s misleading.

I get what you’re trying to say.
I was simply pointing out the falsehood that we don’t possess the ammo to move up.
Simply depends on who they’re targeting and if they start to slide.
IMO, if they want JPJ, they’re going to have to get to #18 (though I can see Seattle taking him at #16).
And, if they’re targeting Latu, I think they’ll need to get to #20.
We have the ammo for either.
Again, as I’ve stated before, I’d rather trade back and try and pick up an additional 3rd.

Nice take DH. Whether we move up or back or even stand pat...it will depend on the perceived value of the "exchange." We could trade away next years draft capital if their is a player within striking distance that might be "that missing piece." At this point, Ill trust in JL. If he trades away a good chunk of draft capital, he's going to have a damn good reason. We traded away a good bit of draft capital to secure Gruden, but it brought us our First Lombardi. The draft may also unfold in a manner that the best move is to trade down and obtain more draft capital. Gotta basically do a "pros and cons" list of as many scenarios as possible. Im sure that they are working at this even now. Now we just wait and hope for the best. Id put my coffee down for a blue chip Edge Rusher, CB, G, or Center. Otherwise, stand pat and draft BPA, or trade down if the draft is "deep."
Good post brother.

Lol. The deal is actually significantly less than originally reported.
