But I felt had to speak up.
Drives me nuts hearing posters say we should have signed this guy or that guy or Licht is a bum (yes he’s had some head scratchers) because he didn’t go after whoever.
First of all like another poster wrote in a different post. You can’t assume every player you want wants to play for Tampa!
These posters talk like these players wanted to play here and JL didn’t want them.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Mike Lupati for instance. He’s from California. Started his career in San Fran. Maybe he didn’t want to play across the country in Tampa.
Maybe he signed with Seattle to stay close to home...
Point being there are many MANY factors involved in why or why not a FA signs with Tampa or not.
Just because they didn’t doesn’t mean JL blew it...
As for the lack of FA signings.
Most glaring reason is obviously cap space.
However the way I look at it is maybe BA and new staff may have came in looked at game and practice film and realized or figured that the roster isn’t as bad as it played.
Maybe previous bad coaching, bad scheme for players, maybe game plans.
Maybe they saw potential in some of these guys everyone wants to ship out of town just to sign someone else.
And I for one loved Hump but not at what Tenn is paying him.
I liked Kwon but NO WAY at what San Farns paying him!
I think it’s a smart move sitting out the first and 2nd wave. Holding on to what we’ve got and letting it play out.
