Internal Buc Re-signings (in order of priority):
- Chris Godwin (WR) - hope we don't have to break the bank for him as injury history is a bit concerning, but he's a great leader and major contributor to offense.
- Ben Bredeson (G) - bring him back and let him compete with Klein and potentially others for starting spot.
- Greg Gaines (DT) - solid depth piece to Vea and Kancey.
- Shaq Barrett (OLB) - situational pass rusher, mentor to younger guys, and his former position coach, Larry Foote, can maybe squeeze a little more juice out of him.
I don't mind seeing others like Gholston, JTS, Anthony Nelson, KJ Britt, etc., walk.
External UFA signings (in order of priority):
- Khalil Mack (OLB) - if we can get him on a veteran, short-term deal, he's still a force to be reckoned with.
- Michael Jackson (CB) - would be nice to pry him away from division rival in Carolina. He stepped up as full-time starter when Dane Jackson went on IR.
- Jourdan Lewis (CB) - solid, physical, nickel in Dallas over the years and even played on the outside some. I'd think he'd thrive in Bowles system.
- Cody Barton (LB) - 3 seasons in a row with +100 tackles, and stepped up when Alex Singleton went on IR.
This seems pretty reasonable - thoughts?
No issue with any of this if the price is right.
Mack for example I think will get more than he's worth and I'd pass... But if he wanted to come cheap and get to start then yeah, cool
I think the Bucs go bargain bin shopping. PR is writing articles about some of these free agents and they are low balling what they will really be paid. I mean LVD is a good example as he ended up receiving double what PR projected. Imagine the CBs under 30 years old or even edge rushers what they will command? More like $20+ mil easily.
The free agent edge rusher field is getting a little more crowded than expected, so Mack and some of these others may not be as expensive as previously thought. If Mack asks for too much you have Reddick or Bosa or Sweat or Young and a bunch of others or trade for Hendrickson or Garrett. Or if you don't want any of them there's a deep class of prospects in the draft. No issue with any of this if the price is right.

Of course there's drawbacks to most of them, but it all adds up to: Buyers market.
