A common narrative around here is that a QB, if he's any good at all, comes into the NFL and has some sort of success right away. The idea is that with football being so popular and coaching having improved across the board that prospects are far advanced going into college and into the pros. For the first time I watched the actual route throwing by the QBs and Mayock was talking with Kurt Warner, I believe, about pro readiness of todays typical QB. Across the board the sentiment given is that NCAA QBs are far less pro ready than 10 years ago as the spread style offense has become very popular. They commented on how many prospects had never taken a 5 or 7 step drop in a game, rarely take snaps under center, rarely turn their back to the field during playaction and are in point and shoot style scheme changed presnap by the coaches. It's just funny that in one year, we had 3 QBs have immediate success and it seems to have completely changed our expectations of what to expect from our rookies. I've said it before, regardless of who we get, we need to give them support and TIME.I'll stay off of Glennon because i've beat that dead horse and his ship has sailed. He at times showed great potential and at times looked lost. I know he was a 3rd round pick and they don't get the patience our number 1 will this year but I'd like to hear what exactly you guys about what exactly you're looking for out of our rookie? What exactly makes you think he had a successful season? Wins? TDs? INTs?, Y/A? Lets not argue about who we're taking for the moment.I remember with Freeman, I liked him because although he threw a bunch of picks his rookie year it seemed the game wasn't to big for him. Conversely, I liked Glennon because he was thrown to the wolves way ahead of schedule and fought every week.Personally, I'm trying to expect nothing from our rookie. Whoever we pick has got to be the guy for 4 years unquestioned. I'd like to see some throws that show me he is starting to understand NFL defense. I'd like to see him be decisive, even if its the wrong decision. Im not expecting more wins, at least by him "winning" us a game. You could see last year McCown cost us several games. I'm looking for him to minimize huge errors his rookie season. Bad habits are tough to break and I dont want to see any started. Thoughts?
