Scotty Miller still out there
No, Maurice Stovall Jr. signed with Atlanta for peanuts.
Yea Miller has a $1M cap hit this year with the Falcons while Gage has a $4.4M wasted cap hit this year with the Bucs. When Gage is cut by the Bucs next year he'll leave behind $5.7M in dead cap money in 2024. Another genius move by Licht.
It's true. Fringe players that most teams in the league don't want tend to not count much against the salary cap for the team that actually decides to sign them.
I'm finally starting to realize the method to your madness.
Gage is the fringe player and when it's all said and done we will have paid him $16M for 426 yards.

you’re comparing Gage’s INJURY-PLAGUED production for the Bucs to Miller’s healthy production?
I think Palmer will be fine as number 3 WO .
What’s Palmer’s cap hit vs. Miller?
Thats the accurate comparison.
Gage is the fringe player
First four years in the NFL:
Russell "Fringe Player" Gage - 193 receptions, 2,491 yards, & 9 TD's, leading to a 3-year, $30M deal
Scotty "Mo Stovall Jr." Miller - 74 receptions, 924 yards, & 4 TD's, leading to a 1-year, $1.2M deal
There's reality, and then there's your perception of reality. Far too often, those two things are mutually exclusive.
No need to go back to Miller. Let's see what Palmer can do. Sounds like he's looked good in practice but hope he can do it in games too.
The Gage move when it happened reminded me of something the pre Brady bucs would do....sign a guy that had like one half decent year to a multi year contract and it wouldn't work out.
the Brady Bucs - 2020, 2021 would sign known vets - Gronk, AB, Fournette - and that worked out amazing with 4 combined touchdowns in the Superbowl.
in 2022, Julio was a "Brady Bucs" move and it didnt pan out but the Gage one reminded me of pre Brady.

Gage is going to be compared to Alvin Harper free agent signing. But Harper signing was worse for different reasons.

Snaps
Miller- 1009
Gage- 1950
So Gage had a little more than double the stats but with nearly double snaps. All you proved is that Gage isn't worth 10x the contract value Miller is. Not even close.
Instead of spending resources to replace Miller (Daerden in the 4th, Gage 3 years, $30M) they should have just played him.

”football acumen”
As suspected, Twitter is rampant with calls for Landry and…lol…Julio.
Really hope we see what we have with Palmer.

Correct. Fringe players don’t get as many snaps as non-fringe players, from Pee Wee to the NFL. Welcome to football.

Here’s yet another example of your perception not being reality. There were a number of things proven, surely. But your takeaway is one only you come away with.

Julio was a disappointment last year. He doesn’t have much left
Not sure how Landry did last year with saints but he wouldn’t be a bad pick up
Thing is I don’t really think Bucs are chasing Super Bowl this year so highly doubt they bring in a vet, more likely to ride with Palmer to see what he has got
same reason we don’t have a back up RB #2 or nickel corner
Julio was a disappointment last year.
No, he wasn't. He was EXACTLY what some of us said he'd be...multiple times.
same reason we don’t have a back up RB #2
Huh?
more likely to ride with Palmer to see what he has got
And, I hope this is the case. We aren't contenders. Give the kid the reps.
