1 year, 10m.
I was hoping we'd offer him this as I'm struggling to see how our corners will be any good this year.
But perhaps he's "got name not game". Haven't followed him closely.
Very worried about our secondary.
Bowles and Co. traded away a good man cover corner in Davis, as Bowles used more zone than usual last season. That probably explains why they didn’t have much interest in Gilmore, another man cover corner.
Ah good point on scheme... If we just zone blitz all season it could make for a massive delta in points against.
Typically I'm not a fan of overusing zone... Probably because Mike Smith made me hate it... And that loss to Texans last year was brutal.
I am sure Evans lobbied for the Bucs to sign him
The Bucs have probably been a bout 60% zone most of the time Bowles has been here, but last year Bowles actually attributed the increased zone to problems they sort of claim to have addressed this year. Will be interesting to see what happens, especially if our pass rush is weak
Gilmore though? They just re-work Davis? Same ball park ish, but maybe just hindsight

"Increased zone", you say?
Bowles is known (to a fault) for his PRESS MAN BLITZING SCHEME.
Bowles does NOT play the bend dont break defense, he is the Cover ZERO guy
"PRESS MAN BLITZING SCHEME" & "Cover ZERO guy", you say?
There are those with a clue, and then there are those gasbags who flap their gums nonstop while actually saying nothing.

Or that English (and football) are second languages for you, Mr MASSIVE INSECURITY?
During his tenure Bowles had played more man than most BUT thats still only equates to roughly 30-35% of plays. That was the POINT
And yes even more zone than typical last year BUT that was attributed to a specific deficiency they say they have fixed this season SO .. if they were going to go even MORE man than usual wouldn't they have just kept Davis by renegotiating because isnt Gilmore getting $10 per and Davis was only like $13 or 14?
Lastly, the keep Davis scenario might not hav been an option because he might have had to go elsewhere wanting only a LT deal
