Rice missed the cut again
Glazers didn't put him in the ROH until almost 20 years after he hung up his Buccaneer cleats. Mike Alstott retired in 2006 - ROH in 2015 - not a HOFer. Rice retired in 2007 -ROH in 2025. For Rice to be with the likes of Barber, Sapp, and guys like that is a great feat. Just making it there is almost as tough as the HOF.
But I'm just saying they weren't in a hurry to put Rice in the ROH for whatever reason. The HOF voters might be entitled to ask the Glazers if he's truly a HOFer why did it take so long for him to even get into the ROH?

Fair point, but isnt the reason the same for the HOF, there were just more qualified candidates for the ROH?
Lee Roy Selmon, John McKay, Jimmie Giles, Paul Gruber, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Mike Alstott, Doug Williams, John Lynch, Malcolm Glazer, Tony Dungy, Ronde Barber, Monte Kiffin, Bruce Arians (Gruden)
The ROH has to account for the history of the team with guys like Selmon and McKay. I dont know that you bump any of those people for Rice when you consider the broad standard. Consideration for Alstott, for example, appropriately transcends his own play( i.e., what he means to the franchise). Williams same thing
Sure I'm just saying it's Glazers who are talking a good game but they're action (or inaction) didn't help the cause. Sure if you are looking at the guys in the ROH it's elite company. The fact that Rice is even in there is quite a testament to what he means to the team. But the HOF is even more elite of course. The HOF voters can rightfully say that if the Glazers think Rice is on the same level as those all-time greats like Lynch and Barber who did make the HOF why didn't Rice go in the ROH around the same time as those guys? But I'm just saying they weren't in a hurry to put Rice in the ROH for whatever reason.

Robert Mathis over Simeon Rice as a semi finalist is wrong

Not sure about that. Very similar stats right? Less Colts from that defense in the HOF?
Dont get me wrong. I would love to see Rice get there. I am just not sure he does.

Sacks are the same but Mathis played 18 more games. Rice’s post season excellence is what separates him from his “peers”. He has 7 sacks in 7 post season games. Mathis had 6.5 in 18 post season games.
Rice needs to get credit for 3 sacks in the Super Bowl but one came on a 2 point conversion attempt so he unjustly only gets credit for 2. From start to finish his 2002 is up there as the greatest season a DE ever had.
Rice was a better pass rusher, but Mathis was the better overall player.
