This is my take on things and I do believe the Glazers might be thinking along these lines.First we know the offense is our strength and the team broke records with many injuries on offense. Next we have Dirk who will be a free agent and/or be poached from us to be a head coach. I don't know if Dirk will pan out but I do know that his offense did improve in the mental game (penalties etc) as the season went on.We have a HC in Smith who clearly doesn't have the talent on defense but they sure looked far better in the second half of last season. Lovie had two full seasons where he brought in his guys and took over as DC and the team went to crap in both defensive play and mental mistakes. So the question is do you think Smiths' coaching and scheme were the problem or lack of talent. I honestly don't believe it was lack of talent that produced this large of a mess on defense. So I believe the Glazers made the only choice available which was to fire Lovie. This gives you the chance to promote Dirk to HC and bring in a new DC. Simply put we couldn't afford to let the strength of this team lose its OC regardless of how we felt about Lovie. We can always get a DC with free agent money and an entire draft class as enticement. We might not be able to get an OC that won't get much free agent money nor draft picks to work with. This would also set back the offense.I just think this was a bad situation the Bucs put themselves in and Lovie sure didn't help his own cause which led to the only choice the Bucs had. I didn't like the phone firing at all though. Shame on you Glazers as Lovie has earned the respect of a face to face firing.
