A lot of people are talking about Glennon's overall numbers and saying how in a vacuum they seem to be pretty good, but you really can't get that great of a feel for them with him having only started 13 games and none of them provide a context for how the rest of the QBs are doing. We're going to look at three stats that don't have anything to do with games started and look how Glennon compares with the players just above and just below him. 1. Completion percentage: #26 (59.4%)Five ahead: 21. Tom Brady, 22. Ryan Tannehill, 23. Matt Cassell, 24. Andrew Luck, 25. Robert Griffin IIIFive behind: 27. Joe Flacco, 28, EJ Manuel, 29. Kellen Clemons, 30. Matthew Stafford, 31. Colin KaepernickAnalysis: Glennon is actually in company with a fair amount of QBs the average fan would say are "good", but pretty much all of them are having down years. 2. Yards per attempt: #37 (6.27 YPA)Five ahead: 32. EJ Manuel, 33. Chad Henne, 34. Sam Bradford, 35. Joe Flacco, 36. Jason CampbellFive behind: Glennon has the lowest YPA of all QBs with significant playing timeAnalysis: There's not much way of spinning Glennon is surrounded by bad players 3. QB rating: #21 (83.9)Five ahead: 16. Cam Newton, 17. Tom Brady, 18. Andrew Luck, 19. Matthew Stafford, 20. Carson Palmer Five behind: 22. Robert Griffin III, 23. Ryan Fitzpatrick, 24. Ryan Tannehill, 25. Matt Cassel, 26. Kellen Clemons Analysis: Once again, Glennon isn't ahead of anyone people would generally consider "good" and is just behind a few good players having down seasons.
That YPA number alone is worthy of replacing him. That's awful.
Solid backup, low-end starter
Sort of pointless to look at those figures except in relationship to other rookies. The biggest jump in most QBs careers is year 1 to year 2. Next year at this time we will know who he is most likely. Now, well he is just a rookie.
Solid backup, low-end starter
That says it all. I agree 100%
