Very happy as a Bucs fan and very happy for Chris
Feels sorta kinda team friendly. I thought he might push for more
It may be team friendly in that another team offered more, but it's still a large contract. If $66 mil with $45 mil guaranteed is correct, then I'll go on record and say it will end up being a bad deal for the Bucs. I hope I can come on here two years from now and admit how wrong I was. Who doesn't like Chris Godwin? But will he be healthy and productive for all three years of the deal? Or even two? Licht likes to reward his players if they deserve it which is great, but in this case, Godwin wasn't going to be left out in the cold. He would have gotten a nice deal from somewhere else. They should have let him do that.Feels sorta kinda team friendly. I thought he might push for more

You don’t need to wait 2 years. You can just do it now.
You claimed signing him would prevent us from signing a FA edge rusher.
And, per usual, you were wrong.
I love this re-signing. We are so lucky to have Evans and Godwin. Now, I’m not a huge fan of the Haason signing. Of all the guys available, he would not have been my choice. One sack in 10 games last year.

I am not sure about the market so dont know if you are right BUT it would make sense that both the player and team strike a deal that is sort of a compromise. Both wanted the deal to happen and the market price is pretty well known

I like reddick. Better than giving a boatload of money out on a long term deal to a guy that may not work out like sweat
once Garrett and Mack came off the board, options getting low. Maybe von miller?
great news. after I heard patriots were in the game, and they have a ton od cap space, I thought he was gone. but obviously guys like it here. top news!

was it 10? Or did he sit out 10? Thought he played 7 I could be wrong tho don’t quote me

According to Rapoport, Godwin left some money on the table to return to the Bucs.

Of all the guys available at $12mil guaranteed? Were there that many willing to sign for a prove it deal?

There were some different circumstances last season, some of which were Reddick's fault. But it's a pretty cheap, prove-it deal for a guy that that had been to two consecutive Pro Bowls and one All Pro in the two years prior to last season. It he comes in here and acts like a professional, it should prove to be a pretty good signing by December.
Yes if I said "prevent" I was wrong. I said something to the effect that it would make it hard to do that. Reddick is a one-year deal, so that's the key. Godwin's deal will likely push a lot of money into future years, so it will be even worse if he's not productive during that time. The Bucs will probably draft an edge rusher and let Reddick get his money on the free agent market next year.I hope I can come on here two years from now and admit how wrong I was.

But this is an "All in for 2025" pair of moves. If the Bucs win a Superbowl with a big contribution from Godwin this year, then whatever happens in future years can be forgiven.
