Baker Mayfield is younger, is as good as Dak (age 30) and far superior to Kirk Cousins (35).So again, yes, most would rank Cousins and Prescott ahead of Mayfield in their Mahomes Mountain QB rankings
See, that wasn’t so hard, now was it?
For less money, and equal/better winning percentage, in playoff games.
Playoff record
Mayfield 2-2 (?)
Prescott 2-5
Cousins 1-4
Is that right lol?
If so, then by the Power of Biggs Economics, Mayfield is SUPERIOR because
more losses cannot equal more success. It simply can't.
5 is great than 4 and 4 is greater than 2
FACTS!
seems to be different debates going on
contract wise and the goal of trying to win meaningful playoff games; Baker a better fit for Bucs than Prescott/Cousins
ranking based off their careers/likely stats, Prescott/Cousins better than Mayfield. Albeit, excited to see year 2 of Baker in Tampa.
Better context, for me anyway…Baker Mayfield is younger, is as good as Dak (age 30) and far superior to Kirk Cousins (35).So again, yes, most would rank Cousins and Prescott ahead of Mayfield in their Mahomes Mountain QB rankings

…but admittedly, still subjective.
Dak Prescott counts $60M against the cap in 2024.
Mayfield will count about half of that if not even less.
Prescott is a better QB than Mayfield, particularly in the regular season but is he worth losing Evans or Winfield over? I dont think many would make that trade.
Prescott dominated the regular season but turns into a "silly goose" in the playoffs. he's 2-5 with one of those wins beating up on a washed up Brady/incompetent's OC Leftwich in 2022.
Kirk Cousins is 1-4 in the playoffs. in 2022, they were 13-4 in the regular season and lost 31-24 to the Giants in the first round - a 9-7-1 team. Of course, the Vikings fans were much happier than the Giants fans because they consulted with Biggs on winning percentage as defining success.
Cousins also puts up gaudy numbers but let's look at Vikings seasons with him
2018- 8-7-1 no playoffs
2019 - 10-6, first round playoff win over saints, lost to 49ers in division round
2020 - 7-9, no playoffs
2021 - 8-9, no playoffs
2022 - 13-4, first round playoff exit.
2023 - 4-4 before the season ending injury.
if that doesn't define mediocre, i dont know what does.
So again, yes, most would rank Cousins and Prescott ahead of Mayfield in their Mahomes Mountain QB rankings but in terms of trying to win Super Bowls, Mayfield gives the Bucs the best chance because (1) he's cheaper (2) not coming off an injury in his age 35 season (3) more clutch/actually appears to step his game up in the playoffs versus the reverse
but totally Debby, if Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Herbert, or Burrow become available, let's consider it. Trevor Lawrence? ehh no thanks
I think if DAK was brought in to be our QB....THAT just might be enough to put a crack in my "fandom." I would never ever ever Follow a DAK PRESCOTT. I just wouldn't, he's all shiny on the stat line but made of particle board on the INSIDE.
I think Dak is very good, I just think this offense is being built around Baker.
SR discuses Trask today:
https://www.pewterreport.com/kyle-trask-bucs-had-right-idea-drafting/
For a guy who has hardly played a down for the Bucs, Kyle Trask is quite a polarizing figure.
Tampa Bay’s backup quarterback is entering a contract year with most fans feeling like the former Gators star was a wasted draft pick.
With Tom Brady entering his second season with the Bucs fresh off a Super Bowl LV title and all of the team’s starters re-signed for a run at a repeat championship, Bucs general manager Jason Licht and head coach Bruce Arians wanted to possibly draft Brady’s eventual replacement and groom him behind the future Hall of Famer.
The process was right, but the pick – ultimately the player – wasn’t.
At least not yet.
Time Is Running Out On Kyle Trask With The Bucs
Greatness, as they say, typically shows up early.
San Francisco owner Jed York recently said that Brock Purdy, who was the 49ers’ seventh-round pick in 2022, was the best quarterback in training camp that year. After injuries to starter Jimmy Garoppolo and backup Trey Lance, Purdy was forced into the lineup against Tampa Bay at midseason and has been the 49ers’ starter ever since. Purdy made his first Pro Bowl this year.
The truth is that Trask couldn’t beat out veteran backup Blaine Gabbert in his first two seasons in the league, and didn’t beat out Baker Mayfield for the starting job in 2023.
Maybe they do draft Penix?
The team is working hard to re-sign free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield, who wound up succeeding Brady as the starter last year. Yet some Bucs fans are clamoring for the team to draft another quarterback this year, perhaps Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., who hails from the Tampa Bay area, because Trask hasn’t proved to be a long-term answer. Or maybe those fans just don’t believe in Mayfield.
And the Bucs should draft another quarterback because the process is sound.
Depends on where he comes out, his injuries are more of a durability concern (certainly didn’t affect him this past season).
For me, more of a concern with him is he didn’t really seem to get better handling pressure - although his ankle limited his ability to show that athleticism against Michigan - having someone like Pennix in a developmental role would be nice.
With some of the other more pressing needs (DB, Edge, interior o-line), not sure he would be available past the 2nd round, and the talent in the areas we need the most help will be in that 2nd round will be more important in that spot.
It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

He’ll go as early as a late 1st and most likely a late 2nd (depending on medical evaluations, where he could slide further).
Unless we part ways with Baker, I don’t see Penix as an option/pick.
Multiple reports saying he’s been killing his interviews and Warner in really high on him though.
Keep him and Daniels away from Atlanta. Lol.
Signing Baker to a 3 or 4 year deal and using a draft pick on a QB within the first four rounds this year makes no sense
we have some more pressing holes to fill
you give 2024 to Baker. If he regresses, then yeah let’s consider 2025 draft pick
