Honestly though, what does deserve have to do with anything? In any industry.
And he doesn't deserve it. This is a big part of why America is completely broken right now. Great article on this by a former CEO: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4784162/?ir=Sports
Goodell's pay is tied to performance, which I completely agree with.
That's slot of money to pay someone who is doing a very good job of hurting the sport.Sure, he's maximized profitability but I don't particularly think he is helping the brand.
the owners pay him to make them money....i'd say mission accomplished!!
CEO pay is a huge problem in America. It's what I call capitalism gone bad. When a morally bankrupt CEO takes over a business and proceeds to cut jobs, making the company weaker, makes dirty deals and for lack of a better word steals workers pensions. The big problem is that Americans seem to be okay with it. There should be outrage. You have sit by and watched as the American dream has been snatched away from you and you even cheer these unscrupulous people on as they rape and enslave you. Have fun with that!

I have a great response but will not respond unless this gets moved to the Cove. Wrong board.
His compensation is what the 32 owners deem it to be.Do your thing Roger, do your thing!
+1
There is an easy solution if you don't like it. But then again I suspect you will still continue watching. If on the other hand you think that we, the consumer is getting ripped off ......
Not sure why you quoted my "+1" to make that statement.
Because you agree with the original quote that the Company, aka the owners pay him what they they think is just compensation for his performance. If folks disagree they can stop using the product, in which case his salary will go down, or more yet he will get fired.
you even cheer these unscrupulous people on as they rape and enslave you.
So we shouldn't be cheering about being raped and enslaved?

So make the case why he does not deserve it instead of some blanket "all CEO's are evil" ptich.I am sure some are awful, mean or evil, but there are others who work hard, are fair and earn what they get.

Good Lord, man....dramatic much??
NFL greed sounds like it is on par with our leaders in Washington. We are such gullible fools. SMH
Careful, going to make Washington envious... ;)And no, no one is worth that kind of money
And no, no one is worth that kind of money
Nonsense. He's worth what his bosses are willing to pay him.
yo know society is hitting the crapper when men care what other men make. Dude is in a position where people are willing to pay him. god bless him.. people should wish to be that guy and use it as a carrot to their own success.. instead they complain about it. Media acts like its a bad thing to get rich by hard work. Its the goal of all and what keeps the wheel churning.
People underestimate how much money is flowing in the league. In 2012 the league made a $1.4B profit.
And no, no one is worth that kind of money
Nonsense. He's worth what his bosses are willing to pay him.
I agree with you Hate but it is still a bitter pill to swallow when the "bossman" is making almost $50 million bucks and the average family would just love to afford season tickets. When the cost of everything NFL is rising people look for someone to blame, I think they have found their man.

People that are struggling are often times look for someone to blame

"The Brand" has never been more profitable than it is now. He's doing just fine.
FIFYYes, they are making a lot of money. That's not how I judge the sport, but that's ok.
