I have a problem with some sites/mock drafts saying that we need to draft a DT high because McCoy has nobody playing next to him now that Miller is gone. I understand adding DT for depth later in the draft but I thought Spence did an admirable job for being a 4th rounder. Legal issues aside; the kid played well and should only get better in the new 'better' system.
"Third-Round, No. 73 Overall: Quarterback Mike Glennon, N.C. StateHad the best season of any rookie quarterback. Glennon did everything the team asked of him and then some. The new coaching staff will determine if they stay with Glennon behind center or look for another replacement. GRADE: A "Jdud mad ...
32nd ranked offense woot woot ....lol

Just think without Glennon the Bucs might have had the 33rd ranked offense.
Will any player get a second contract from the Bucs? I think there's a decent chance, no.
At this point, I don't see why Banks wouldn't. He had a fine rookie season.

Maybe. But lots of "fine" players don't get second contracts. They get let go and a replacement is drafted who will make less money.

I'd have to question what "fine" means. He showed his upside with some plays, but was very rookie like in general.

Fine as in he played good, visible upside. Maybe just short of Trufant in the rookie class...who was taken 21 spots ahead of him. I dont see why/how anyone can judge whether or not we see 2nd contracts out of these guys yet. A big part of that equation is how they progress year over year. According to the same amount of data, half this board considered McCoy a bust...and yet now he is a franchise player.

Player A: 3 Interceptions, 2 passes defensed, 4 TD's given up, and a 97.9 QB rating againstPlayer B: 3 Interceptions, 6 passes defensed, 7 TD's given up, and a 91.3 QB rating againstOne of these players is Johnthan Banks and the other is 2-time All-Pro Patrick Peterson. Considering this was with a Schiano/Sheridan led defense, I thought he did fine.

That's actually a really excellent way to think about the draft, though maybe only for the early rounds. My thinking there is that in a capped salary league, there's value in cheap contributors who start or play often even if they aren't quite good enough to be resigned after 4 years. So for example, Spence might be a successful pick even if we don't resign him after 4 years, since he's holding down a starting but relatively less important job for well under $1 million. The others....Banks - I'm going with 50%Glennon - heck, it's too early to tell even he even makes it through his current contract. We'll know a lot more if he's the starter next year. Gholston - I'm much higher on Ghoston than I was when we drafted him, but I'd say it's < 30%. Means - highly unlikelyJames - highly unlikely just based on the position.

Not true with the new CBA. If Banks makes it to a 2nd contract, that is where the $$$$$$$ are.
Some pretty ambitious grades here. Short term some guys played well when called upon (Glennon, James). Long term, these are all career backups. Depth guys. But quality depth guys. Overall no issues with this draft.
glennon gets an A grade. Why?

Thanks for contributing.

Because it's tampa fans, and he's the backup qb...That's all we ever do, jump from one backup qb to another. All the while, whining about too much "risk."A decade of losing isn't enough for them. They still haven't learned, reward TAKES risk...and a qb.
