I think it's safe to say Lovie and Licht are building though the draft. They are admitting their mistakes and starting over. What a better year to do that than when you have the number one overall pick? We will have a rookie qb and a pretty young roster. We can build a roster around these guys and it may take a few years but if they for once do some solid drafting they can do it. Then when you have a solid core you then can spend your money and put yourself over the top. Spending in free agency should be paired with drafting well. Otherwise you overspend on needs on players who aren't that good. Great players rarely make it to free agency, they are drafted and kept with the team. If this team wants to be a consistent team and be an attractive place for quality free agents when they do hit the market then they will have to draft well. It's really as simple as that.
