My first Moch draft(don't know if I'll do another; but, it's certainly my first Moch draft of the 2025 Draft). I call it greedy because I'm going to do whatever rediculous trades I can. Well, actually, there doesn't seem to be any good trade down options. But, we're in luck! Because according to the top 250(currently) big board that I'm looking at, players that I'm interested in is still there even with this trade. I'd be surprised if the Bucs are willing to trade down this far. But, I'm going to go ahead and do this rediculous trade. I'm trading down to 30 with Buffalo, and getting both there second round picks, and selecting,
Well, first, let's see what the Bucs draft picks are after trading down - 1st round - 30/2nd round - 53/56/62/, 3rd round - 84, 4th round - 121, 5th round - 157, 7th round - 235
So, with the 30th pick overall, we select De - Donovan Ezerauku
2nd round - pick 53 - Tate Ratledge
pick56 - Dt Ty Robinson
pick 62 - Cb Jaylin Smith
pick 84 - Cb Robert Longerbeam
pick 121 - Dt Jamaree Caldwell
pick 157 - Lb Teddye Buchanon
pick 235 - OL Jackson Slater
- Okay - so, what I, more or less, did was only look at players between our picks. Like between picks 3 and 4, I just looked at picks from 84 to 121, assuming the majority of the picks before the third round are gone, and that we're probably picking players in that range for value reasons. But, with three picks bunched up in the second round for instance, I maybe moved some guys up.
I also based this on Great Blue North Draft report, which I'll go ahead and link here - https://gbnreport.com/2025-big-board/.
Well Longerbeam, I moved up pretty high. Honestly, I'd draft him in the second round. He's my current favorite find. He's my favorite non-1st round cornerbacks - even ahead of Jaylin Smith, who I like. But because "Great Blue North Draft Report" has Jaylin Smith up high and Longerbeam down pretty far(currently), I drafted him pretty high.
I know Jaylin Smith is similar to Kindle Vildor; but, the Bucs would like depth to a position that gets injured; and I knew I could get Longerbeam further down the draft.
I got a couple of Dt's. Well, I like them as best available at the time.
There's probably more notes to say - why did I go with Ezerauku over Shavon Revel? There's two draft strategies I like - One - unless there's Berry Sanders/Bo Jackson/Randy Moss there, go with O and D lines if there's a better O and D line sitting there. An Oline and Dline is not going to be effective until you pack it in. I think we're starting to see that in Tampa Bay.
Number two strategy - get complementary players(this kind of goes with getting an O or D lineman that is better than what you have if that's what's there and Randy Moss isn't sitting there). Like complete a unit - like if there's a corner that is great and you have one(Bucs have one in Zyon McCullum). Or, if you have a great Wr, and you see another great Wr. Basically reduce double teams, or in the case of D, make it so you can double team or blitz, by doubling up a position. I know I could have picked Shavon Revel. but, I felt that Donovan Ezeiruaku is as special player as Shavon Revel. Not in forty times, but in bending, and long arms and such. Plus he's better than what we have on Dline(outside of Haason Reddick now). And I could get some corners, which I think are underrated - Longerbeam mostly. I could have taken Longerbeam of Jaylin Smith, but Jaylin would have been gone by the next pick. I just went by the Great Blue North Draft Report Big Board!
I think that's god enough commentary one why i did what I did.
I can't criticize the individual mocha draft picks, but let me understand this. We are moving down 11 spots and they are giving us two 2nd rounders? No way. The trade value chart won't support that. It supports a high 3rd, so I could see one of those late 2nd round picks but not two.
