Greg Schiano may be interested in the head coaching job at Penn State University, according to David Jones of Pennlive.com (via SB Nation). The current head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent six years at Penn State as a graduate assistant and defensive backs coach in the early 1990s, and is currently facing a likely firing in the NFL. Jones notes that Schiano is not high on Penn State's list of potential candidates, however. For Schiano to get that job he would first have to be fired by the Bucs, something that is exceedingly likely to happen unless he manages to beat the New Orleans Saints in their own home next Sunday. Schiano could also quit, but that's a lot less likely. Then, Bill O'Brien, the current Penn State head coach, would have to leave -- presumably for the NFL. O'Brien's name would be intriguing to NFL teams, and he is widely expected to take an NFL job after guiding Penn State successfully through two very tough seasons.Of course, all of this is to be taken with a grain of salt as the college coaching rumor mill is notoriously unreliable. But a head-coaching swap between the Buccaneers and Penn State is not entirely out of the question, either.
They can have him
I'll give him a great reference!
please
And take all your Rutgers cronies with you
I will trade him for Bill O'Brien in a heartbeat. O'Brien is the only college coach I am interested in as our new HC
While I am not 100% ready to give up on Schiano...if he wants out...fine. If the PSU job opens up and he leaves the Bucs for PSU...we wouldn't have to pay the last years of his contract.
If Schiano wants out, it could save the Glazers cash and Schiano face. A win win for both. But if it does happen, it better be soon. Last time the Bucs entered the coach search late we got stuck with Rah.
The article says MAY be interested.

Just curious...why are you not 100%? I'm asking nicely. I am wondering what tangible data you are pointing to that says give him another year. Playing hard should be a given not some miraculous feat of coaching. So, I'm curious. The guy has been a head coach for 13 years and has zero trophies in his case. What makes anyone think that some magic light will suddenly come on?

We got stuck with rah (and dom for that matter) because the Glazers needed a coach that would be cheap and go for the "build through the draft". Back to back coaches with little to no bargaining power should speak volumes for what the problem is here.
Woohoo. Merry christmas!
Doubt it happens but it would be nice
I don't want another college coach. I want a proven NFL HC. Gruden, Cowher and Billick are at the top of my wish list. Someone with that kind of notoriety and experience is what this team needs IMO.
