Has drafting injured or recovering college players ever worked out?

I saw this in the PR blog today... "in addition to defensive end Hau’oli Kikaha, whose 19 sacks ranked first in college football last year. Kikaha couldn’t crack 4.8 in the 40-yard dash and has had two ACL surgeries on the same knee, so his stock could plummet to the middle rounds where the Bucs might take a chance on him.And had to wonder, has this ever worked out for teams? The few players that I can think of, never amounted to much and it seems to me that the Bucs should take these players off the boards or at least not even consider them until very late (6th / 7th round) if they are there.So, can someone name a few players where the gamble payed off in a good to very good player and should we consider someone like this (for example Gurley)?
