Has the NFL looked into expanding its playoffs?

I don't really support this idea but in the wake of march madness, I'm sitting here watching the NHL playoffs. I don't really like hockey but one of my roommates does. What I noticed is that there are multiple games going on at the same time. I know the NBA does something similar as well.I think this multi-game flip-around action is kind of cool and adds to the feel of the playoffs. I'm also aware that adding two more teams in each conference's bracket (and removing first round byes) to make this a reality would in some ways dampen what it means to be a playoff team or "water down" the product.Just a thought in the midst of the winston/mariota hurricane.
