Still some openings to fill on the Bucs. Just because you draft guys in the 5th round and beyond does not mean you have really done anything to address needs. They still have to go out and find some veterans.
QB3: The Rookie UDFAs will be lucky to make the practice squad. QB3 is not on the team yet. Licht says he wants a veteran who has been there done that.
RB2: The Bucs didn't draft a RB. Now they need another one. All of a sudden Licht is raving about Vaughn. I'm not buying it. They'll be shopping for another RB2 or RB3.
LT: Licht hinted he might have something up his sleeve as far as doing a deal for a left tackle, or so TKraz would have you believe that's what Licht was hinting at. Will Licht try to trade for a tackle so they can keep Wirfs on the right side?
DB: They didn't add any high picks, so they have to add a couple veterans.
TE: Drafting Payne Durham in Round 5 helps, but it doesn't address the need for a veteran TE.
Vaughn is in his contract year so we're going to see the best version of him.
This team is rebuilding. Will be able developing the young guys
let’s play a game - top tier (top 10), mid tier, and bottom tier (bottom 10)
you give your thoughts and I’ll give mine
QB room - bottom tier
Rb room - bottom tier
WR room - top tier
TE room - bottom tier
OL- mid tier ( while wirfs is a future HOF, complete unknown currently on the opposite side) Jensen returning from injury; couple young guys with potential on the interior
DL - mid tier (couple names and high picks in vea, hall and Klancy)
LB/edge - mid tier (David and white are quite the duo, Shaq returning from injury, JTR hasn’t shown much)
secondary - top tier
so a defense which has potential but an offense that will struggle to top last years 17 points per game thus 5 win over/under

Separate Edge and MLB
Edge is bottom tier
MLB is mid tier
Not the thread, but OK in your game you have 3 bottom, two top, three mid. If you do the math (0 for bottom, 1 for mid, 2 for top)7/16= .4375x17 games. That comes out to 7.4 wins. This is your game. How did you translate your assessment into five wins? This team is rebuilding. Will be able developing the young guys

touche 7-10 it is! Do we win the division?
And I suppose where I was going with this was that the Bucs need a lot of help.
Vegas had their over/under on wins at 6.5 so in line with your 7 win math.
The one flaw with this tier rating is that not all tiers are created equal, ie. QB versus TE, etc and as JC pointed out maybe not the appropriate categories
Really it will boil down to baker mayfield. He has shown some promise in some seasons with the browns. He has also had trouble protecting the football behind a stellar run game. I’d probably bet the under on wins but am rooting like hell to keep the playoff streak alive
Really it will boil down to baker mayfield
Actually, it will most likely boil down to Canales.
He's the BIGGEST upgrade this offseason.
I'm not predicting 7-10, but if we do end up bottom tier on the running game then 7-10 is a generous prediction. The running game will be the key.Not the thread, but OK in your game you have 3 bottom, two top, three mid. If you do the math (0 for bottom, 1 for mid, 2 for top)7/16= .4375x17 games. Last year the Seahawks went 9-8 and made the playoffs. Frankly, the Bucs will take that. I'd take that. If the Bucs go 9-8 this year they will probably win the division. The Seahawks had Geno Smith as QB and Kenneth Walker as RB (1050 yards). They averaged 4.8 yards per rushing attempt. They ran the ball 425 times compared to 578 passing attempts, so about 43% of the time. Geno Smith was the 8th rated QB and had 30 TD passes. Is Geno Smith better than Mayfield/Trask? Maybe, but is Geno Smith really that good? He didn't used to be. Is Kenneth Walker really better than Rachaad White? I doubt it.
I'm not saying Canales can come in here and wave a magic wand and turn Todd Bowles into Pete Carrol. I'm just saying looks can be deceiving. The season will turn on the running game. We know there will be a competent defense. If they establish a running game of 4.8 yards a carry they still can run it 40 to 50% of the time and be successful. Walker only caught 27 passes for 165 yards all year. So they didn't dump a lot of passes to the running backs. The fact is Seattle didn't have superstars at the offensive skill positions. They made do, and they did pretty well. The Bucs can do the same thing.
But if you want one statistic that's going to tell the tale for 2023 it's going to be "yards per carry".
8-9 last year with Brady turning 4 losses into wins with late game heroics. We were 3-1 vs Carolina and New Orleans and they upgraded at QB and we severely downgraded. That 3-1 is going to turn into 1-3 or 0-4.
That 3-1 is going to turn into 1-3 or 0-4.
I’m not so sure.
Again, the Canales hire is a MASSIVE upgrade over the last moron we had.
Brady had to put 182 yards and 3 TDs in the 4th qtr to squeak by Carolina in what was essentially a playoff game. I'm sure.
Again, why’d he have to do that?
An archaic system, with an OC who had a playbook 6-7 calls deep.
Canales “should” be bringing in a QB friendly system with a more modern offense.
So, as I said, I’m not so sure.
The Panthers had 3 TD drives, the first two probably 60 yards and the last in the 4th qtr was the length of the field.
sam Darnold?
the Bucs only win because the Panthers D not playing zone lol
not coincidentally … the Bucs are basically overhauling both lines AND replaced the OC
Sorry
scratch that
i meant the Bucs almost lost to the Panthers because they didn’t feature Scotty Miller
obviously
