NFL wants fantasy football in elementary school curriculum By: Nate Scott    USA Today Sports    1 hour ago15046655306_95Cb89Fb8B_Z.jpgAdam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, NFL Chief Marketing Officer Mark Waller talked about the league’s ideas to get young people excited about the NFL. One of those ideas was a push to get fantasy football put into the elementary school curriculum. From the Wall Street Journal: We want to make sure that at the younger age, there’s a format for fantasy and a way to play that will allow you to engage. But also use it educationally. It’s a complex game, fantasy. You should be able to learn a lot, particularly around math. How many points do I need? How many points does this player get? We’re also trying to work with groups to get the concept of fantasy based into the curriculum of elementary schools. If you love football and you teach them math through football, the chances are you may teach them better math and more quickly. Now, the NFL isn’t wrong in saying that games are a great way to get young people interested in math. What is wrong, though, is that the NFL doesn’t want any old game to get young people interested in math. They want fantasy football specifically added to the curriculum. Thirty million people play fantasy football already. How much is enough?
