A good point is made here about teams that don't need a quarterback this year or even perhaps next year but may be considering a quarterback this year in round 1 or 2. In addition to the teams mentioned, I think Arizona is also considering a quarterback in this draft along with needy teams like Houston, Bears, Cleveland, 49'ers, Jets, maybe Washington and Chiefs.

That's a lot of teams looking at quarterbacks in a not too deep draft of them. None of the quarterbacks in this draft are (at the moment) looked at starters from day one, but the top 3-4 are considered good developmental picks and there are maybe 9 overall that could be drafted this year.

Many draft sites don't see a quarterback being picked until at least the 12th pick by Cleveland and I wonder if at that point we won't see a run on the other top 3 which might benefit us at #19 either by a trade that lets us trade down or by dropping a few players that might have been picked before us so that we have a shot at them at #19.

I'm a bit more hopeful about a trade down now after reading the article above. There could be a lot more teams looking for a quarterback in the top 2 rounds than I thought.
