Jameis isn't perfect but he shouldn't get all the blame. That being said, I think the root of all the Buccaneers offensive struggles is due to poor Offensive Line play. It is really hard to look up specifically O-line stats as they aren't really tracked (I spent 4 hours looking for them) but look at how poor the Buccaneers rushing game is (28th in the league), look at how many times the QBs have been sacked (21 sacks so far, for 97 YDS lost by the way).
I really feel that regardless of whether Winston or Fitzpatrick starts it will not matter that much. Winston has thrown 4 more passes and only completed 2 less passes than Fitz has while being sacked 5 more times. Even if our QB was Tom Brady that wouldn't bode well for our Offense. What I mean is, offensive plays are based on timing of the QB's 3 or 5 step drop, receivers running routes and the QB reading what/how the defense reacts. If the QB is constantly under pressure, anyone would make poor choices. We are still 7th in points scored and 1st in offensive yards, nearly all of them passing because of the Buccaneers terrible rushing game. The Buccaneers Defense needs to improve as well.
The Bucs are seeing better D-line play with the sacks and limiting the opposing rushing attacks, however the secondaries inexperience mixed with the injuries to the linebackers are really crippling the Bucs ability to stop their opponents from scoring. The secondary has allowed 18 passing TDs, 835 yards after catches and 91 passing first downs. The team has only one INT and 18 passes defended which is terrible if compared to other teams. The Bucs also have a -13 turnover ratio meaning other teams have force turnovers compared to the Bucs Defense.
All in all I feel that there are so many issues with our beloved team that blaming all of them on Jameis isn't looking at the complete picture. I agree turning over the ball as often as Winston does is inexcusable. I also don't think it's entirely his fault, as I believe he is just trying to make plays and unfortunately he makes poor decisions while doing so. I also do believe that Fitzpatrick is better for the team in the long run and that Winston is not yet the franchise QB we need nor he may never be. Blaming all the teams problems on Jameis is not fair to the team, being that this is a team game and that there are many problems and poor QB play is the easiest to focus on. That's just what I think anyway.
