I love the Bucs, but I'm the fan of the NFL in general. I keep up with most of the league. I know Bucs fans have been clamoring for more press coverage and more blitzes. When you look around the league, very few defense are able to get away with a large amount of press coverage and heavy pressure on the QB. These teams are the Bears, Jags, Vikings (at times), and maybe a few others. Those teams happen to feature elite players (Mack, Hicks, Griffen, Rhodes, Barnes, Ramsey, Boyue etc etc). I don't expect the Bucs to get pressure every play, and I understand that our defensive backs our young. I'm not calling for Smith to even change his scheme, there are still successful Tampa 2 based schemes in the NFL...
BUT OUR GUYS SHOULD AT LEAST BE ABLE TO TACKLE WELL IF WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE A BLITZ HEAVY DEFENSE.
So often I'll see our defense get to a play, make a solid stop that should result in a 2 and 8 or so, only to end up being in 3 and 2 or something. It keeps other offenses on schedule. I'm so sick of it being an issue with Mike Smith's defenses year after year.
