With Sims coming back this week, there's going to be talk about who gets cut or waived back onto the practice squad from the active roster.
I think the only smart move would be to utilize Shorts' roster spot or move someone like Conte to IR (or just cut Wright).
With the production the team's gotten lately, I believe that both Barber and Rodgers are necessities to compete long term in the playoffs. In 2 or 3 games this year, Barber has been a 4th quarter battering ram helping put games away. Rodgers, at this time, is flat out the best back on the roster and Martin is nowhere close.
Sims' greatest strength is also his weakness, though with the current roster construction, it's certainly an asset. He's more of a receiver than a back coming back to a team stretching its receiving depth to its absolute limit. I think Sims is best used as a slot receiver and occasional 3rd down back on this team.
With Martin's ineffectiveness and injuries, and Sims inability to perform as a pure running back, Barber is a much needed insurance policy.
