I think you said at one point that the Bucs would be 10-2 with Arians calling plays, so what is their record today with Arians calling plays?

I think they are definitely better with Arians as HC, but more because he'd hold people accountable.

One thing that stands out about this offense -- NO MATTER WHO IS CALLING THE PLAYS - is that it requires the QB to stand in and throw deeper. In fact, there were absurd question about whether Brady had the arm to do that when he was first coming here.  This is Arians discussing that at the time:

"We do have reads that start deep and come in short, but I’ve had a couple quarterbacks that just keep looking deep — they won’t throw the check-down,” Arians said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “Tom Moore has the best saying in the world: ‘You don’t go broke putting money in the bank. Take the damn check-down.’ “We don’t have to teach Tom that. But I think the freedom of looking downfield on certain routes and in certain situations, when the matchup’s perfect — take it, don’t be afraid to take it — some quarterbacks are afraid to take it. I’m not looking for a ‘checkdown Charlie’ quarterback."

AS I POSTED BEFORE . . . PFF even says that Brady on his own this year has been "Checkdown Charlie." never getting to those "reads that start deep and come in short."

pair that with ZERO running game and ZERO underneath talent for most of the season

whichever is to blame more - play calling or execution - there is no reason to hold back the pay calling in a playoff game,

So, if you are someone who believes that Lefty channeled Arians for the first half of the Bengals game but then just decided to shut it all down . .  you should see first half Bengals play calling

and if you think Brady basically dump the ball down most of the season to protect getting to the playoffs, he should then be turning it up in the playoffs, standing in taking shots.

win or go home

1. I agree with everything you say on the coaching side - clock management, play calling etc. I don't defend Leftwich's playcalling. I think its been ridiculously conservative I AM JUST NOT SURE THATS HIM or at least him alone.

While you may not be openly defending him. You sure have found a ton of excuses for him. And, again, let’s not forget the monumental success he was the last time as a play caller without Bruce holding his hand.

2. I think you guys are hung up on PA, but that's another topic. Do you have a quote though to back this up:  " PA is useless and ineffective unless you're running it well."  Whole different topic though.

Yeah, we’re hung up on it.

We are one of the most successful teams using it, yet we’re near bottom of the barrel in usage frequency.

3. ON THE 12 AND 13 PERSONNEL, this is a Football Outsiders statistic posted in our local news when Arians was coming here:

"Arians’ last four offenses ranked between 10th and 16th in two-tight end sets, so we should expect to see more of O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate on the field together."

On top of that his offense FEATURED Godwin blocking all over the place.  Here's Arian calling 12 Personnel HIS BASE OFFENSE:

""[12 Personel] has been our base offense, probably, for 15 years," said Arians. "It's where we always start. As we progress, whether we use two or three [tight ends], we have quality people there. We also have really quality receivers, so it's all about finding the right mismatches."

Hmm…

In 2021, we ran 69% of our offensive plays out of 11-personnel (886 plays in total). Good for Top-5 in the league.

We also rushed out of this formation 62% of the time with a 4.7 ypc rate.

4.  But this execution v play calling point is the one place where we really disagree

We’ll agree to disagree.

Per JBF

Former Bucs great Keyshawn Johnson was shaking his head this week at those who think Brady is still the magical Goat he always was. Speaking on his ESPN Radio show, Johnson was adamant that Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers, but Brady is a guy who took a significant step down from his throne.

“Anybody that looks at Tom Brady and says, ‘Oh, That’s still Brady.’ They’re just talking now. They’re scared to say anything negative about Tom Brady. That’s just the reality of it,” Johnson said.

What did Keyshawn Johnson have to say about Aaron Rodgers this week?

The dumbass duo will keep listening to mental midgets like Ian Beckles and Keyshawn Johnson, even though they are repeatedly proven wrong.
