Would Brady want to join Payton? Sure...but not at the expense of winning and Brady knows weapons mean more than jelling with a coach.
Better options than Tampa....that would be interested in Brady....only two
1 - SF. Better weapons. They certainly wont fire Kyle Shan. Really depends how they do this year with Brock. They win or make the superbowl and it be hard to imagine they move on from Brock. If they lose in first or second round, then yes...might need to consider QB upgrade. Also what to do with Trey Lance investment?
2 - MIA. better weapons, but in the AFC. Will Miami fire Mike McDaniels after 1 season. They ended up making the playoffs. Wont be hard to imagine them moving on from Tua...if he even plays again but i could see them making a run at Brady.
All this talk about New England or Vegas or New Orleans is fine but they aren't better fits than Tampa Bay
Payton, Brady and Gronk to Indy.
They plan on getting into the corn business or something?, surely you can't mean the Colts
Yes, I mean the Colts. My reasons for thinking that.
1. The Saints hold the contractual rights to Payton. They want draft picks in return and are more likely to let Payton go to an AFC team. Indy has many of the assets needed to be successful and are in the weak AFC South. (Indy, Jacksonville, Houston Tennessee). It would be easy for Payton to become successful there. Much easier than any other HC opening. Payton doesn't want to go to a team that can't be immediately successful.
2. Payton and Brady tried to get a package deal with Miami last year. No reason to believe they won't try to do that again.
3. If Gronk does come out of retirement he would do so with a team QB'd by Brady.
well, team with waddle and tyreek is definitely an option for any qb looking for new job
and they could give tua one year time to get over his concussion problems
sounds reasonable
AFC playoff QBs - Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert, Jackson, Miami fan sitting in section 103, seat 14
NFC playoff QBs - Brady, Hurts, Purdy, Cousins, Prescott, Jones, Smith
I know Brady has an ego but if his goals is Superbowl, why would he ever consider the AFC gaunlet
to me, it's San Fran, Tampa, or retirement.
If Brady is gone the Bucs need to do a hard cap reset. They've been going crazy with these void years and it's like using a credit card.
They're $43M over the cap next year with no QB and some players they need to re-sign: Dean, Edwards, SMB, and maybe Nelson.
Players to be released
Fournette (save $3.5M)
Gage (save $3M)
Brate (save $2M)
Donovan Smith (save $10M)
Jensen with a post 6/1 designation (Save $5.5M). This was an incredibly stupid re-sign. They already had his replacement on the roster.
Players to be traded
Devin White (save $11.7M)
Shaq Mason (save $9.6M)
This gets the Bucs under the cap and allows them the potential to atleast re-sign some of these home grown talent.
JC - yeah if Brady is gone, might also consider cutting Shaq Barrett. Dont think they consider re-signing Edwards or SMB. Can replace in draft. Nelson only if he is being reasonable.
i think it's likely they look to re-up White, David, and Dean regardless or rebuild or retool method.
i also think the odds are not as bad as media suggest that Brady will return to Tampa. If that happens, Fournette and Jensen aren't going anywhere. to me, there was a reason guys like Gage, Godwin, Jensen, Fournette, and Davis were all re-upped to 3 year deals.
JC5100,
Dead cap money comes due against the cap when a player is cut or traded. It's bonus money that has been prorated over the contract, but if the player is gone it comes due immediately. If it's a post June 1st cut you can spread it out over two years, but it doesn't go away.
Fournette (save $3.5M) Dead cap hit $5 mil.
Gage (save $3M) Dead cap hit $9.3 mil
Brate (save $2M) Dead cap hit $3 mil.
Donovan Smith (save $10M) Dead cap hit $8 mil.
Jensen with a post 6/1 designation (Save $5.5M). Dead cap hit $19 mil.
Players to be traded
Devin White (save $11.7M) Dead cap hit $11.7 mil.
Shaq Mason (save $9.6M) Dead cap hit $0.
Expired Contracts Cap hit (This is money pushed from the previous contract that will hit the cap regardless of whether they are signed or move on).
Brady $35 mil, David $6.9 mil, Hicks $4.9 mil, Jones $3.5 mil, Gholston $2.4 mil.
Total Dead Cap Money under the JC5100 Plan: $108.7 mil.
Projected Salary cap per team for 2023 $220 mil.
Remaining team salaries under JC5100 plan for 2023 $112 mil
Total 2023 cap hit of 2023 contracts for Godwin, Evans, Barrett, Davis and Vea: $101 mil
Remaining cap space for 48 other players $11 mil.
Or do some Post June 1st cuts to spread out half of the cuts until 2024, which is just kicking part of the can down the road.
If all cuts and trades are post June 1st ($54 mil) Remaining Cap Space for 48 players = $65 mil
Time for Mr. Licht to work some cap magic! Good plan, JC!

I know how the cap works. When I put "save" I factored in dead cap. And there's no dead cap hit if White is traded.
Shaq Barrett's Dead Cap Hit is $23.1 mil.
Y'all should be checking Spotrac.

You are correct about Devin White.
Devin White isnt getting traded
Example Donovan Smith. Say you cut Smith and save $10 mil and take the $8 mil cap hit. You thenhave to come up with a starting LT for $10 mil to break even on that deal. Where are you going to find a starting caliber LT for $10 mil? They may have to do something at LT, but it isn't going to save money. They can use their first round pick, but there's only one of those for the whole team.

LT- Walton $870k
LG- Leverett ERFA $870k
C- Hainsey $1.3M
RG- Goedeke $1.4M
RT- Wirfs $5.2M
This is the price you pay for spending the last 3 years of cap space with a credit card.

ummm we won a superbowl and have made the playoffs the last 3 years
job well done or are you suggesting we build for the future like the Bucs of 2009 to 2019 which made the playoffs a total of zero times
Like UF, name me one good OSU QB in the NFL. I’ll wait.
no Tom Tupa doesn’t count 😂

JC is interested in the teams finances over the football because . . . . ya know . . . (whispers) he is a GM
