…but the injuries, aging stars, walking wounded, are happening here. Hard to maximize when you’re forced to play 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stringers for long stretches of games.@firebowles2023 - as a whole… the defense is mostly made up of the same guys. The main difference being the coach and scheme. It’s called maximizing your talent with your scheme. That isn’t happening here.
But we don’t like talking about that reality.
Coen has been dealing with a litany of injuries on that side of the ball all year (some due to the sheer incompetence of his HC).
Is his offense bottom ranked in the league?

Over their four-game losing streak, Tampa Bay has averaged 2.3 plays of 20 or more yards per game, 31st in the league.

Weird argument to suggest that injuries don’t impact performance. Everyone can see it with their own eyes. If you take away Godwin and Evans there is a significant impact on the offense. Also impact when you make Britt an all snaps player BECAUSE of injury. Add more the swapping Dean for some guy who was on the PS.

Why are they out again?

Cool.
Now, again, are they a bottom ranked offense?

Offense: 5th Scoring & 8th Overall
Defense: 27th Scoring & 30th Overall
And I would argue the injuries on Offense (Evans, Godwin, Goedeke, and recently Wirfs) have been worse than the injuries on defense (Dean, Winfield, and part-time player in Dennis). But only one side of the ball needs the injury excuse.
Why are we making excuses for Bowles? He's shown us who he is.
Just look at Kirk Cousins stats on the season and see where LITERALLY 1/3 of his stats came against us in 2 games.
Bowles is the perfect message board topic. Funny to see someone like him be so divisive.

How is Bowles divisive? Bowles has to learn to play to win and to not have his teams play down to competition. Some quality wins last year and this season against competition and teams with more talent. And then some goose eggs against lesser talented teams. Given that Bowles has coached under Arians being able to play to win and running up the score should have rubbed off of him. But Bowles wants to play close games ala Pete Carroll and that is what is happening where the Bucs may be destined to be a .500 ball club even if they add more talent in the near future. But Pete Carroll also had the Legion of Boom and prime R. Wilson to help him seal the deal in 4th quarter closer games.
The Bucs against the Giants should be a statement game where they flat out out play them and to show they mean business coming off a bye. Bowles has to show as a HC this season that his team is ready to play up to their competition on a consistent basis. Or else those quality wins against the Lions, Washington and Eagles doesn't mean anything if they end up missing the playoffs.

Kyle Trask is divisive. Devin White is (was) divisive.
Most of us are on the same page about him. He's not a head coach. He used to be a good defensive coordinator and he's not even that anymore. He needs to go...
But I'm not like... Mad at people for having a difference of opinion about him. I just think you're wrong.

Or up to the competition versus Chiefs and 49ers.
By divisive I mean that people have strong feelings about him. He was “the guy who killed Brady” until we learned more about that season. He is the guy who injured both Evans and Godwin lol. He cost a second Super Bowl with a late blitz (in a game where Brady couldn’t score a TD).
Half of the board has been stalking him with pitchforks for several years lol.
on the other side though, he’s obviously loved by his players and gets a lot out of them. Look at the Chiefs game or 49ers game. But even those games come down to calls he makes.
lots of fodder for rants about him

That is because before becoming the Bucs HC he was basically the same HC we see now. And he was really ascended into the position of HC without a HC search.
Last year he showed growth toward the end of the season but to start this season he reverted to some bad habits again when it comes to clock management and how the defense is playing off coverage.
Down the stretch is going to be an evaluation of the Bucs team along with the coaches. And how Bowles handles adversity once more so we shall see.
The problem with Bowles is that like Dungy is that he may have plateaued as a head coach and that isn't going to be good enough for the Glazers. Bowles has to show more moxie and drive to push his team above and beyond what it can do on a consistent basis.

yes all fair points and kind of what I mean in that he has baggage
interesting couple games coming up!
Why are we making excuses for Bowles? He's shown us who he is.
It’s the same 2-3 posters.
One excuse after the other.
He’s a career sub-.500 coach (and the same losing record as HC here).
No, it’s pretty much the same issue. It’s defensive health. Whereas the offense has had 3 weeks of injuries, the guts of this defense have been out for long stretches. Take a look at how many times the defensive starters/stars (Vita, SVD, AWJ, Tykee - and especially the corners, Calijah, Whitehead) have been on the field, at the same time, in a game. Why are we making excuses for Bowles? No argument that the defense has been below average, and there have been questionable in-game decisions, but the loss of key roles in this scheme, can’t be minimized in order to trash Bowles.
Also, the OC wasn’t arguing to bench Evans & Godwin. They’re loss of availability is on them and the OC as much as it is on the HC (perhaps more).
I get that both had reasons to want to be in that game, but they were out there because they wanted to be.
