I don't know how McCown still being a backup QB would have solved anything for us. And Stovall? Seriously? Dude played 5 seasons. He had 52 catches for 668 yards and 3 TDs. That's garbage. And when he was cut, believe it or not he did get a couple more shots. He played a season with the Lions and Jags. He was actually waived by the 2012 Jags. There are plenty of guys to latch on to and say they should have had a better chance, should've stuck around, etc. Neither of these guys warrants that. Especially Mo Stovall.
Is anyone saying Benn was a good pick? Benn's being a bust doesn't make Stovall any better.

Like his brother, Luke should not be a backup. For whatever reason they keep getting screwed. 13 days and counting for his revenge. And when Stovall started his stats were on par with other #2 receivers around the league. In retrospect would you still have traded up for Benn or would you give Stovall a shot? Neither is not an option. Dominik made a choice. By belittling Stovall you're agreeing with Dominik.

If we're doing this in retrospect, why exactly would neither not be an option?

You're generally not a troll, but Luke deserves a start o_O? Splain.

He's one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the league. But you have dumbass teams spending #1s on garbage quarterbacks or giving guys like Kolb a ton of money. Or in McCown's case, coaches hanging themselves with Griese, Garcia and Leftwich. There's no explanation for it other than their wrong and pay for it with their jobs. Nothing will be sweeter than Dominik getting fired less than 24 hours after losing a game to McCown.

McCown might be better than Gabbert or Geno, but so what? He's 99% not a franchise QB and I'd rather take my lumps in the draft than deal with mediocrity.

So would the coach that goes 8-8 with Luke every year.
What part of Luke McCown makes him a viable starting QB? His career completion percentage of 58% or his 4 interceptions in 56 passes attempted that he threw in 2011?

Arm strength, accuracy and mobility. The same skill set he showed in 2007 when he had a rating over 100 in 3 starts. He didn't have a prayer that game. The Jets defense was stacked and his receivers were Mike Thomas and Jarrett Dilliard with Zack Potter at TE.
McCown and Stovall. Sweet Mary mother of Jesus! I would've been happy if they had used my draft board and gotten Golden Tate and Decker in that draft and Foles the next year.
What accuracy? If he's accurate, why has he never been accurate in his career, except for 3 games with us? He wasn't even accurate in college!

Ohhh. Now I understand. Carry on Mr. McCown.I actually liked Spurlock much more than either Stovall or Benn. I think he could have been a solid 3rd or 4th WR and he is legend for the kickoff return.
